Hello!

After many years of playing Dos version I have to play Colonization for Windows (XP). The game looks nice, but I don't know how to change it as I did with Dos version. There are my problems:

1. I can't train my colonists as experts in cheat mode (in dos version Shift+S).
2. How can I change data in NAMES.TXT when the file doesn't exist?

At the end, is it possible to excced capacity of warehouse to more than 300 units?

Thanks in advance

H.

I know absolutely nothing about cheating in Colonization. I have never cheated in it nor wanted to. So I can't answer your first two questions.

As for how "to excced capacity of warehouse to more than 300 units?" I suggest having extra ships in the coastal cities. Each hold on every ship can store 100 units. As for inland cities, the only way I know of is to have an extra wagon or two in the cities you need more storage room. Unfortunately you can only build as many wagons as you have colonies.

Actually there is a way to use ships for extra storage in an inland colony. It's a bit tedious setting it up so it's probably not worth it but I did do it once just to see if I could.

You start by creating a coastal colony, move a ship into it and disband the colony. Your ship is now sitting on dry land. Create a second colony one square inland and you can then move the ship into the new colony. Rinse and repeat until you reach the desired location for your inland colony. Note: You have to do the ship moves before you set up the final colony so you have to plan for it in advance.
