Colossus acts like GL

I just played a Nobel difficulty game and built the Colossus because I had a lot of water I wanted to mine for gold. I saw the Colossus video, (which I clicked on while it was building so that I could see the overlay with the benefits on it). Afterward, I could see the colossus was out in the water, but I only had two golds per tile, not 3.

I downloaded the latest patch about a month ago. (It's April '07 now.)
Any thoughts?
