Dear all,
I'd like to present you a community project that we recently (re)started which consist in enhancing an official MP league MOD, as we are looking for python-skilled coders or anyone who would actually give a hand in this ambitious project.
You may or may not know the CivLeague community, which is basically the most important, most competitive and most diverse multiplayer community for Civilization
(http://league.civplayers.com/)
While the community was moving to a knew website, one of the member of the league, who happens to be a professional coder, slaughter, programmed us an adequate, ambitious and well-shaped MOD, destined to host most of the competitive games of the league. In example, the CCC (equivalent of World cup of Civ), is entirely played using the Monitor MOD.
The MOD propose advanced feature, among others a reporting live of the games http://league.civplayers.com/?section=gameMonitor, and have seen more than 1000 game played on it as of now.
Life being what it is, the MOD is not developping as fast as it was before, and we'd definitively benefit from releasing the last beta's we have of the MOD, and frankly, the possibilities of modding in Civ4 are such that we could still improve the MOD further, hence enhancing our MP daily games even more. (Ideas are never lacking!)
So, I/We were wondering if any CivFanatics coder, preferably with python/SDK skills but not only, would be interested ? Setting up a team of 4-5 peoples (including already 2 persons of C4P, and me who have a very good knowledge of the XML files, but can only somewhat read/understand python/C++) would be ideal !
I believe it could be an exciting project for a CivFanatics Modder, as the MOD would be extensively used in the MP community, providing a large pool of testers, and making the feedbacks many. It will also be known as the 'official' league MOD, which is no small thing, very possibly attracting attention from Firaxis. Finally, it will provide the possibility of MP, SP, and Modders community to share their vision of the game, and, I'm sure, will end up in loads of new ideas and feature for the MOD and more.
So please, if you are any interested, leave a message here, or on a dedicated topic on C4P : http://league.civplayers.com/forum/index.php?topic=1491.msg19148#msg19148.
