Comprehensive Unity Pods

A submerged resource when raised above sea leavel will turn into a pod iff the game option 'No Unity Scattering' is unchecked. Otherwise it will remain a resource but may change type. Smac or Smax makes no difference.
 
However, if I left the pod alone and then popped it several turns later, I could get a different outcome. IIRC, this behavior only occurred if the pod was on a land tile, but adjacent to a sea tile. You may be seeing something similar.
This is definitely the case. I can remember on a couple occasions leaving it alone and popping it another turn to get something more favorable. Thanks for your input.
