I have my wireless network set up now and am currently looking up the best way to connect our tv. We use the computers DVR which is now in a different room than the tv. I haven't looked closely at media extenders yet, but my basic understanding is that they only allow you to view information on the tv, rather than vice-versa. I also looked into the Slingbox, which may be my best option. Granted, I was also hoping that if I was able to connect it wirelessly that I could someday connect a second tv using the wireless connection.

Basically I'm just looking for ideas.

dude, you've given me more information than i had!!
im looking for the same thing. i want to watch movies right off my PC (saves the disc, you know) i went to Fry's electronics and they couldn't help me at all.

im gonna check out slingbox, and monitor this thread :)

slingbox seems to only send info TO the computer, but i want both ways, i want to be able to stream to my TV

Yeah, both ways is what I prefer as well. A media extender allows you to stream (I believe) from the computer to the TV, but I also want the TV to be controlled by the computer like my pre-wireless setup. Basically.....

Pre-wireless our TV was setup like this:

Wall -> Satelite box -> Computer -> TV

Basically I want to figure out how to insert the wireless router between the satelite box and the computer. I want to be able to use my computer to still control the TV (as in change channels, record shows, etc.).

I'm wondering if there's a way to convert the coax cable so that it can be inputted into the router.

I'll try and keep this thread updated with anything I learn GS.

what i would like to see is box with an antenna,

Inputs for coaxial. and an output of RF/coax.
then have a wireless antenna that can hook into my network.
then be able to intercept the cable signal and shunt it to PC, as well as take streaming off the PC and switch it out the output cables.

i dont really care about remote control, or the mobile phone thing :p
