Yes, the server appears to be up now by logins showing at civstats....however, I'm at work now and can't play....boo hoo! The last guy I saw a posting about who did that eventually didn't have to worry about scheduling his game time after work....he no longer had a job to schedule around!

Well, it's usually not so decisive if one misses a single turn since worker actions and build queues progress anyway. Unless of course you're just about to make some important move like settling a city or waging war.

Yes, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I missed one move but I don't think that any unit movement will occur and I'm curious to see what's out in those black areas I'm scouting ....also, I'm attacking a barb town...getting promotions for the planned inv....???

Guys, I get up around 6 am EST and the first thing I do, after going to the bathroom, is to check the server. I check it again when I leve for work, when I come back and before I go to bed. It is 12:34 am and I am checking this stuff.

With a staff of one (me) it is difficult to keep the server going 24/7, but I am doing my best.

I appreciate any messages etc to the effect that the server is not connected to the internet.

I would use another DSL provider if I could but Verizon doesnt seem to play fair with competitors.

I am trying my best.

I read your open invite on the other webpage and went in and took Cartage. However, there is no way I can start this game with 1 city that has 1 population. You can just turn it back to AI.
Tks anyway.

I wouldn't suggest any of the AI in/around Europe, to be honest, unless that's all that's left...;)

I can affirm both the above pieces of advice. 1) I was the brilliant leader of Carthage at the height of it's glory which lasted from about turn one, reaching it's apex at turn two, and collapsing to it's present sad state by about turn four after Thalatta's Roman axeman ( I suspect Mafia ties) sailed over quite unexpectedly bearing gifts of whoop-ass. You'd have to be pretty brave to take Carthage now. And so...2) I can absolutely attest to the fact that yes, Thelata is indeed the "local neighborhood warmonger"....to be honest, however, Thelatta was quite up front after the dirty deed was done and offered an appraisal of his strategy in that affair....so I learned a painful lesson about mp civ4 and hope to not repeat the above mentioned event too many more times in my online career.

The current Carthage isn't even worth Thalatta or I taking it anytime soon. An oasis and a few desert hills? :) The cash likely wouldn't be worth the possible lost units.

No city razing means no cashout from taking cities...is this correct, or is there some other way to destroy an aquired city? They could be a drag on the old economy.

My wife switched out the router without telling me or letting me know what her plans are.

So the server is down till I can get it going again, which probably wont be till around 8pm EST tonight or maybe later.

I will post here when it is back up.

My appologies to everyone playing that cant get back on prior to this post.
