On a Thinkpad X40 the game does not start.

When I try to start, the multi language splash screen "Loading..." is displayed. The DVD drive starts spinning. Then a Popup with "Please insert the correct DVD-Rom..." is shown.

I checked the DVD in a desktop PC, where starts normally. Unfortunatly this machine is too weak to play the game..

I am afraid this is the Copy Protection keeping me from playing.:cry:

It may be the fact that the play disc isn't actually disc 2, as the manual and CD say... it's actually disc one you hvae to insert to play. heh.

Actually it is the DVD version - I am in Europe.

And in my elderely PC the DVD works...

Seems the DVD/CD-RW Combo is the problem:

-> Mat****a ujda765 DVD/CDRW

IBM/Lenovo was no help so far....

It is frustrating: I have a brand new game an cannot play it.
I still have CIV I - maybe I switch back to it - Never tried it on XP.

Are you sure that it's not some Daemon tool or something? I installed Anti-Blaxx because i thought it would help me to play without the DVD. It didn't work and once i disabled it, Civ IV wouldn't start anymore even with the DVD.

I uninstalled Anti-Blaxx and rebooted the computer and suddenly it worked again.
