Yes, it's a bit early. But I'll be off to a hiking trip next week :cooool: so today is my only chance to open this thread.

As the map is not finalised yet, there is still room for a change or two ;)

Civ: Iroquois
Map: Standard
Landform: Pangaea
Temperature: Normal
Climate: Temperate
Geology: 4 Billion years
Water: 70%

Difficulty: Emperor (:hmm: not really sure yet. Maybe Demigod)
Rivals: Egypt, Greece, Portugal, Rome, Scandinavia, Germany (tbc, Otto does not really behave as I'd like him to...), Netherlands
Barbarians: roaming

Starting position:

Conquest Class Bonuses
TBD

Predator Class Equalisers
TBD

Can't see why we shouldn't settle in place, chop towards Granary and Barracks and make sure to grab some Horses through rapid expansion. With an Ancient Age Golden Age, no need to mine the Bonus Grassland until afterwards. Research The Wheel at 100% despite the chances to pop it from a hut.

Iroquois pangaea? Cool. If there is a food bonus not far away from the start it can be another record setting game (conquest and domination). Wait...You can't take the horses away in an iroquois game, right? :D

Anybody going for conquest?

ok, i will be going for conquest. i'm no match for you but i will try to do my best:scan:

Is it necessary to have a despotic golden age though (I'm allergic to those things)? This is Conquests, so maybe we can get the Republic slingshot. Trading will bring Riding in around the same time we revolt.
Of course, if it is a demigod game then it may be harder to get the slingshot. How many settlers does the demigod AI start with?

Just space and conquest left to go for the eptathlon right?

Before settling, I'll be certain to scout the mountain with the worker.

Unless the fog gazers can see bonus food to the south, that is... [pimp]

Right-clicking on the initial square will tell you if it touches the river (Gold = 1, means yes; = 0 means no).

Assuming the starting tile is not on a river, there's a serious chance we might be tempted/forced to settle on a BG or a Forest. Any thoughts on which is lesser of 2 evils here?

Despite the break in the river's graphics, I am confident that it runs through from North to South, and we are on the outside of the river bend. i.e. I am sure we start on the river.
But I agree with Capt Buttkick; moving the worker to the mountain will reveal an extra 14 tiles or so. Why decide where to settle before then?

C3C -- Iroquois are Agg + Commercial. No scouts and Goody Huts might pop barbs.

It looks like the start is on the corner of the riverbend, so it should be on the river. Nonetheless, I'll send my worker to the mountain to see what's out there.

Pwetty please, make it demigod!

Iro, pangea? There has to be a catch with this one somewhere. Just to clarify, I know that continental teleportation is banned, but what about if your troops stay on the same continent? This could easily be exploited for conquest purposes. Couldnt find anything in the Exploits page of the main GOTM website.

Hi, killercane :wavey:
Going for conquest? These days you have to arrange some personal challenges in civ3 cotms to make the game fun.

I think any kind of mass teleporting is forbidden, but i amy be wrong.

Predator is fine :). I would hate to have another "AI cost factor increased to whatever level " handicap though. My favourite one would be giving some extra workers to the AI because they always seem to build to few roads, at least below demigod :D
