I was doing ok playing tech catchup and keeping everyone warring, when the evil zulu's decided that they would turn my fake war with them into a real war by allying with germany. Germans broke their ROP with me ( their best freind) and attacked my capital(Jeffsalem). Jeffsalem fell at once ( one sword vs one mideval infantry.) I was about 8 turns from bringing my riders online and had at that point 2 repeat 2 armies waiting to be filled with riders. Of course I had those armies in Jeffsalem for safe keeping. with jeffsalem down germany had my territory cut into 2 halves with the iron on one side and the horses on the other. I suppose I could have survived the war with germany, but I think I'd rather retire and replay this game pretending Im klarius

Was going for UN victory.
Ended the game incomplete.....just ran out of time.:sad:

Immidiately after entering Middle age, things did get crazy. We had just sued for peace. And the barbs were uprising. That allowed germany to secure the last horse resource to the West.

Rome and Germany kept waring and we waited too long to ally with Germany against Rome. But we managed to kill about 20+ roman units after we declared on them....actually they declared on us.

Cont war against Rome which had muscuts until we got one of their iron and the horses. We were lucky with GL's and had several ACav armies in the field. Around mid 300's Germans made peace with Rome and sneake attacked us. After building our first Rider we revolted and became a Monarchy in 470 AD. Same turn we made peace with Rome for Gunpowder and Education, and started our GA. Saw that only Aztecs had Astro. So we traded for gpt+2lux. Then traded around to get chem+Banking. Started on Physics. By the time I retired in 580AD, germany was down to 2 cities. We lost 2 Acav Armies and one Rider Army to culture flips.

Biggest mistakes:
  • Waited too long and ended up not getting horses,
  • Did not revolt to Feudalism. CA2 indicated it would have been an economical suicide to establish either a republic or a monarchy due to unit support. So we did not revolt. Bad move.
  • Not enough culture for diplo game.
Best move:
Building the Statue of Zeus.
 
My game was looking like a win, until I noticed that the Aztecs owned all of Japan and Scandinavia, when I had conquered my continent. After the Aztecs conquered both the Zulu and the Mongols, I knew that in the Superpower vs Superpower situation I was in was unwinnable, for 3 reasons. #1 was that the Aztecs had bombers, I had only recently learnt Industrialism. #2 was that the Aztecs had about 70,000 culture, gaining at least 500 per turn and #3 was that I had less than 24 hours to finish my game and submit it.

Well, I had to try, and being Communist and trying to steal techs seemed the best option. Unfortunately, the Aztecs declared twice, and near the end of the 2nd war, I had lost 5 cities from carelessness and had automated all my workers. So I signed peace and gave the Aztecs at least 30 cities, pushing them over the dom limit.

I retired in 670 AD with only a few Zulu and Viking outposts left besides the Romans. I had an hour to finish before the deadline but couldnt get there in time :(. All the hurrying to finish resulted in some rioting cities...
