In COTM 30, the difficulty was up to emperor. The challenge thrown-out on the game release page asked players whether they'd wrap-up the game with samurai, or whether it would take longer...

Well, for chamnix at least, samurai was all that was needed, as the game was wrapped-up with a 540 AD fastest domination win; enough to also secure the gold medal.

In second place, klarius indeed did go to a later era with his silver medal game; but he was after a diplomatic victory, which he secured in 890 AD.

In third, I. Larkin also won by domination with samurai.

thank for attention.
It is somewhat a stealing efforts, I get mostly awards via un-popular VC.
of course,if should won a conquest award, no doubt it is still a un-popular VC map, such as the cotm-23 korea map which no one go for conquest.
since elite like you civ-machine haven't get it yet,
If I steal a conquest award, I think I SPOIL the eptathlete award as a regent player.

edit:
staff, I suggest modify the rule to eptathlete,
a eptathlete = all awards + A GOLD MEDAL

@ archphoenix: Having played in Team Newbie with you I know you'd be a worthy eptathlete. Best of luck for the conquest award...

Hey, goal hanging isn't as easy as it sounds - I've been trying it ever since I got my first award over a year ago. The real trouble comes when you need the conquest award ;) as, although it tends to get less subs than dom, it tends to be contended by the strongest players.

Re the gold medal issue... this was suggested in the early days of the 4otM but not implemented. I quite agree though. If ever there was an award that couldn't be picked up through lack of competition, it is the gold medal.

I agree that the Epthalete probably should be harder to get (even though I'm working to steal one myself). I've managed to bag 3 of 6 so far and with luck might be able to get the others next year and my level of play is soooo far below the current holders of this award.
