I have seen a video on youtube where someone made three galaxies on their screen and I heard that you can't travel to other galaxies. I have not played spore in a while but I would like to know did they do a update to the game where you can go to other galaxies?

Actually, there is a way to have a quasi-multiplayer experience in Spore, done by purchasing Galactic Adventures. It allows for players to create adventure maps that can be published and, essentially, turned into miniature MMORPG-style worlds. It's not what you asked about, I know, but it's about the best I can do.
