Crashing

I just installed the 1.61 patch, and for some reason, I can't load games! I have never modded or downloaded any mods, and this is really confusing me. I can play a new game with the "Play Now" button, but if a load a game, once I press open in the file selector the game exits. My computer doesn't crash or anything, but this stops me from playing my old games. Has this happened to anyone else?

Erase the civ4 cache directory. If you have trouble finding it, use the windows search.

once you install a patch, you cant play savegames which are saved in elder versions.

Are you sure about that? That doesn't seem right... Anyways, the reason that I got the patch was so that I could load Sisiutil's ALC game. So it wasn't an old version. I tried old ones as a test, by the way.

Try starting civ by doubleclicking the savegame.

That's how I noticed this I opened Sisiutil's game and the game loaded like normal, and then it went to a blank technology tree and exited. This is really weird... I guess I'll just uninstall the game and reinstall it with 1.54 a different patch...

Well, my only reason for updating was to play the ALC games, so I'll just go without.

I recommend that you uninstall, manually erase all civ4 directories, reinstall civ4 and repatch to 1.61. At least one more try.

I stiill have the same problem! I hope that the next expansion comes soon, or I'll sue them for every penny their worth (that's a lot of pennies)
