Creating Custom Leaderheads!

Any updates on this? I was able to make a new leaderhead in Blender but like you said it won't show up in game. I'm sure it's my settings.
Also, I had the idea of pasting my leaderhead into an existing Civ4 leaderhead .nif file and placing my texture over the existing bones. I was able to do that as well, but I only have basic Blender skills and there's so many settings...

I'll keep trying. Having custom animated leaderheads would be so much better than the reskins of existing ones.

Do you mean your export settings ? or something else ?

Probably both.:D Sometimes when I export the .nif the file is only around 78K or so. But mostly I think I need to check all of the information in the boxes below the 3D viewspace.

Check C.Roland's and my tutorial about the creation of shaded leaderheads. With the info provided there you should definitly be able to create your own leaderheads not only converting existant ones.

Thanks! I'll check that out.

I don't want to discourage you guys, but judging from my experience there is NO way to export animated nif models from Blender into Civ IV. Not even newer 3ds max version will work. You need the official MaxTools provided by Firaxis for exporting animations, and they were written for 3ds max version 6, 7 and 8 alone.

The problem is that Firaxis started to work on Civ IV some five years ago, so that's the date of the software they used (counts for 3ds max as much as for Visual Studio). I strongly hope that they will turn to newer versions for the upcoming "Civ IV: Colonization" and update the referrering MaxTools and CivCoreDLL. Otherwise it would hardly make any sense to publish a User SDK if the suitable software is nowhere to be found anymore.
