Crime and Law [IMPLEMENTED]

Does "Crime and Law" sound like an interesting game feature?

Crime and Law Advisor Screen
This here would really be cool as well. :)

But I will wait for until @Nightinggale has finished his current work on Advisor Screen (splitting it in "SubScreens").
Maybe also @Raubwuerger may want to support again since he had already created the "Happiness Screen".

I have also added and configured a new Button for that screen here.
(So it is pretty much ready to use in case somebody wants to build it.)

I thought we would not implement this feature in the current version?
I wrote that I was going to implement it because there was still enough time after we postponed the release. :dunno:
(And nobody said anything against it so I started / continued working on it.)

See here:
So I now implemented the 2 Yields so he does not need to work on the GameFonts a 2nd time later on.
Also since we have now
postponed the release I will have enough time to finish the feature without stress.

-----

In other words:
Implementation on
"Crime and Law" has started. :)
Since it is a
pretty big feature I may need about 1 weeks to finish all details.

----

Also I had it listed as "Optional" here right from the beginning of the release planning.
(I just wanted to ensure that it would not postpone a release, but it obviously does not. There are other reasons for that.)

See here:
11) Finishing and Merging "Crime and Law"

---

My other reason to finish it:
Now we hopefully have all Yields implemented. :)
It was actually good that we finished this now.

Ok, tomorrow I will implement the Founding Father for this feature. :)
It is going to be Benjamin Kissam. (I already have his FF image prepared.)

Some information about him:
He was a prominent lawyer and e.g. Founding Father John Jay worked in his law firm after graduating.
(Read e.g. here in Wikipedia of John Jay.)
Spoiler :
Upon graduating in 1764 he (John Jay) became a law clerk for Benjamin Kissam, a prominent lawyer, politician, and sought-after instructor in the law. In addition to Jay, Kissam's students included Lindley Murray.

These here are the last open todos for the feature:

1) Replace dummy graphics of Buildings "Courthouses" by proper ones
2) Replace dummy graphics of Expert "Honorable Judge" by proper ones (incl. 2D Europe graphic)
3) Create a "Crime and Law Screen" in Domestic Advisor

But the feature is otherwise already fully functional for testing in the current "alpha status" of the branch.

To complete implementing this feature, would it also be fitting to have:
(1) (veteran) town guards and/or settler militia to provide e.g. +1 extra law compared to other units, and/or
(2) create a promotion that provides +X extra law?

these are interesting suggestions:thumbsup:
and given that I have been testing this mechanic for several days now, I can say that they will be very useful:lol: troops in the colonies will now be very needed!:hammer::ar15::mwaha:

I can do something like that.

All it needs is to get a good idea how the buttons could look like and what the Promotions should be called.
"Lawkeeper 1" and "Lawkeeper 2"?

The Lawkeeper Promotions are now implemented. :)
Veteran Townguards start with Lawkeeper I and Lawkeeper II thus giving +3 additional Law (4 total)

Thus Veteran Townguards have become a very valuable and useful Unit related to the Law Feature
(But it als got weaker in normal Combat since it lost other Promotions - which is however not bad for gameplay).

Settler Militia (as a rare Event Unit) does not start with these Promotions.
Explanation: Settler Milita was often recruited from completely untrained and undisciplined town folk, not trained law keepers.

Other Units can of course earn those Promotions as well by XP.
(But Townguards are the only ones that start with it.)

@Schmiddie
For Crime and Law we could also create a small "secondary Building": Jail
(Similar to other small secondary Buildings like "Well" or "Graveyard".)

Would you like to create the graphics for it?
(Especially the 2D Europe graphic is often a bit tricky for me.)

Here is a first suggestion of a Jail Building I found in Civ4BTS.
Maybe it can be used to create our own Jail Building or at least serve as a base of work.

I will take care of the graphics within the next days.

@raystuttgart Where are the promotion buttons from? Do you maybe have the original badge? I like to improve them with shadows.

I'm currently searching for a good courthouse graphic. I currently do not have one. Hence, if anyone has a good idea...

@raystuttgart I had some issues to make the model more corpulent. So finally I decided to use the basis of the statesmand and to give him a new head. If this version is fine, I will complete the buttons etc.

but he will not be confused with a statesman? Can I remove the patch pockets from his coat?
and Ray asked to make his belly bigger:lol:
