HI, i just joined this forum.:D

Now, how do you attack rivals across oceans?
i build up a large ground attack force, about 5-8 Transports' worth, and load em up. first i send over subs and AEGIS cruisers to hold of a 7x7 area of water off the rival's coast. then i move carriers, battleships, the transports, etc over to the 7x7 area.
then its unload, bomb and/or bombard (maybe even some icbms!)
, then the rival's conquered.

:tank:

plz write your ideas here.

Welcome! Make sure you read the forum rules and the war academy.
5 to 8 transports, that'd give you 40 to 64 units. If you want to capture cities, you need lotsa units to make sure the occupied cities don't flip back. That doesn't sound enough, to be fair. But that's dependent of the level you're playing of course...
BTW, never even build aegis. Most games tend to end before that. (read: if you get that far you can just as well build the space ship)

I usally invade before AEGIS.
I identify a stratigic resource the enemy has one of that is near the coast and concentrate my attack there.
I establish a beachhead by cutting off roads and rail with naval and air bombardment.
I usually capture a city, settle a settler within the city limits preferably on a hill, rush build an airport and starve the orginal captured city.
The airport gives the city access to luxuries and enables the transport of reinforcements. If I am not advanced enough for an airport I will rush build a harbour, barracks, walls, and a temple.
If I can I will make peace after seizing the statigetic resource. Build up my forces. Build raillinks through mountains protected by forts.
I use navy, airforce and artillary to cut enemy transport links.
Have a team of workers ready to rebuild them fast. The key is not how many units you have but 1) how fast they can get to where they are needed, and 2) how to stop the enemy getting reinforcements.

Personally, I don't bother with offensive/defensive sea units. The AI rarely builds them until it's too late. :)

I put in 8 units (usually by the time tanks arrive), and place the transports close to each city, but sitting just outside of their borders. If that civ is between me and another civ, I'll sign a ROP with both, and build up for 20 turns. Cancel 1 ROP, and keep the other. It's designed in a way so that the civ is surrounded on all 4 sides. That civ is usually gone within 1-3 turns. The only exception was a 5-10 turn seige of a capital were 70+ injured units were resting! (luckily, no barracks).

I fill a load of transports with the best units i have find a nice grassy knoll and set up camp. Aircraft carriers and battleships used to bombard cities and incoming enemy

Sorry, i frogot to say, i either icbm or heavy bomb the rival before invasion...i do get AIs w/ aegis, since most of my military action is late in the game.

have u guys played on the smallest-size world map? if u have, u probably know what i'm talking about. now, in what would be the south china sea, there is a 1-tile island. the romans built a city on it. so what do i do? i wait till i get tac. nukes, drop one on the city, and invade with marines! :ar15: for this tactic, i used 12 ships including the nuclear sub :nuke:

I have found Marines to be quite useful during invasions. First pummel the target city with plenty of bombardment (from Battleships and from Carrier-based Bombers). Once the target's defenses have been sufficiently softened, bring in the Marines. Taking the city, move your Transports into the city and unload your Tanks. From there, you can continue to press the attack on the very same turn.

In this instance, Balkan Island was cleared of the enemy Persian presence in a single turn.
