Disclaimer

The producer has relied heavily on the contibutions of John Edwards and other third parties in the creation of this program. The materials and opinions presented in this program by John Edwards and other third parties, including statements, predictions, documents, photos and video footage, come exclusively from their respective third party sources and do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the producer, are not meant or intended to be a form of advice, instruction, suggestion, counsel or factual statement in any way whatsoever, and are intended as entertainement.

I italicized what I felt was important, but this disclaimer comes at the end of each show.

I watched it tonight, and finally I feel some relief after reading this little tid-bit. I could not tell how he was doing it.

Well, now, my theory is presented as such. I had a feeling one of the ladies I saw him read was not sitting next to her sister, but actually her psychic, whether this is true or not is irrelevant, it sparked my theory, I will float it by you all, tell me what you think.

John Edwards team actually find these people's psychics, (and believe me, 99% of them who come into the audience have one), beofer the show he is told a physical description of the lady he will be doing the reading on. Then he is given specific facts by his/her psychic, who picks up a handy sum of money for the deal.

When he connects with his pre-described vulnerable person with specific facts, nobody (but his/her psychic, close friends, pastor, family members) could have known, they are amazed. He plays it off like your average magician, playing it off as psychic powers, when realistically it is just a stacked deck of cards. The second part of this charade is the healing part, where he does the standard psychic job, helping a person cope with loss with words of reassurance. Like a psychologist, but instead of gathering facts from psychoanalysis, he uses facts provided him from their psychic.

Now, this does all hinge on the good reputation of psychics....

Anyways, I feel better now knowing that the show is entertainment value, and even has a small disclaimer at the end to say it is such, probably to avoid lawsuits.

If you have access to it, see if you can Penn and Teller's show on Showtime. They had an entire episode dealing with John 'Biggest Douche in the universe' Edwards and his ilk, explaining how they do it.

Personally, I feel the man and those of his ilk are among the lowest of the low.

You should have seen the time he started channeling my dead cat having a hairball. That was awesome!

Hey, he's real! I met him one time and he told me that someone I had known at some point had died at sometime and that they said "hello". Incredible! ;)

Interesting, Neomega. I knew it was fake, but I admit he did seem to be pretty good.

I don't think he is the lowest of low. If there's a market for this, more power to him. It's not his fault people are idiots.

Has anyone seen the show "Pet Psychic" on Animal Planet? That show is even worse.

Am I close with my theory? Could you perhaps enlighten me with a nutshell explanation?

The psychic magic show routine is over a century old. There show be both show and printed materials explain the techniques for the various forms of it using both colusion and without. IIRC from some little article I saw a year and 1/2 ago, Edwards does the foutine that does not use plants or code messages from assistants, but using the psycological and leading questions methods, where he incremetally gets small bits of info out the subject with tentative stamements and questions, and rapidly adjusts his line.

I actually wanted to be interviewed by him, give completely false answers, and watch what he can come up with.

So. I never believed in that whole Crossing Over stuff anyway. I don't see why it's even on the air at all. MY GOD, reality show are better.

Thats what i've alwats beleived about Edwards. if you watch him you'll even see the pattern.

First he stats off fairly vague until he gets a "match" with an audience member. Then he starts spewing off facts and ideas - if you really pay attention you are struck with the surprisig number of "misses" he gets once he starts to focus on one person - but he speaks a mile a minute and just keeps hammering until "OH MY GOD!" he gets a "hit".

My favourite quote of my dad (to my mother when she was semi-addicted to the show) "I don't know HOW he does it - but I DO KNOW that he's a fraud".
