CTD when trying to capture German capital

Civ6 ver. 1.0.0.26 (221715)

Playing as Greece on a tiny map, Prince difficulty, standard game speed.

I declared war on the Germans because they were trying to spam me with missionaries and they had 2/3 three civs for a religious victory.

I landed some troops in the south of the map near their one visible (at the time) city and made short work of it thanks to a hefty tech lead. Then I moved on to their capital Aachen which was nearby. I've successfully bombarded the city's defenses to zero but whenever I try to move a unit into capture the city I get a CTD.

I've reloaded and tried again multiple times, even ignoring the city for a few turns before trying again but whenever I try to take it I just get booted out to windows.

If anyone's interested a quicksave of the game I'm playing can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7NY2qJ8fza_TXFwZkNsODlQbjA

I'd be interested to know if it happens for anyone else or of it's just me.

I am currently on turn 337. Whenever I try and take over a city, the game immediatly shuts down to Windows. There are no error messages or anything at all.

Since the bug occured, I have tried taking two different cities from two different civilizations with two different units. Same issue.

I can't really do anything on this save now.
Are there any fixes for this or anyone else having the same issue?

I also posted this on the official forums, however, a moderator apparently has to approve the posts before they show up.

Version: 1.0.0.26(221715)

I just posted a similiar thread. Maybe the moderators can merge them?
Either way. I will try and run your save and see if it happens for me on that one as well.

I think there is an autosave with this reply.

There is a city state that you can take over and an Arabia city.
Both of them results in the game exiting without any notification.

Also, I failed to load the link you put up, Bam Stoker.

@Bam Stroker

Apparently Chrome was acting up for me. Got your save file now and have tried it out.

I did as you and tried to conquer Aachen. Same issue. Game exits immediatly to desktop.
At least it is not on our end then.

@Iron Angel Thanks for confirming the issue. Hopefully Firaxis is at work on a hotfix.

It wouldn't let me load your save to test because I don't have the Aztec DLC. :\

The crash appears to affect all interactions with cities with other leaders. I first believe it has got something to do with number of cities, so I tried to give a city to an AI. Crash again, hmm.

@Bam Stroker
Aww...sorry about that. I am sure someone else will test, people are very helpful here.

@Cabbagesavager
I did not try that myself, however, attacking another city does not cause the same issue.
Did you try one of our saves, or are you seeing this issue in your own save?

I have a similar issue. Playing chieftain on small map. Try to capture any of 2 cities from the aztecs and I can't. I have taken cities from germany before, with no issue. Attached is the game autosave. Both cities are primed for capture. Will crash to desktop with no warning or error.
Playing version 1.0.0.26 (221715)
Windows 10, Lenovo x260, i7.

game attached.

@5280
I just test ran your save. You do indeed have the exact same issue as us.
Hopefully Firaxis are on it. It is, sad to say, a game breaking bug.

I started a new game on Emperor, huge map. Playing as Egypt. Hope to not see the same issue this time.
This makes me wonder though. All the people where the game CTD randomly at a certain turn, maybe the AI is trying to take a city from another AI? And that is what causes the game to CTD when pressing next turn?
If this is the case, that would be wonderful, as this would mean it all is based on the same bug. Makes it easier for the developers to fix it.

Same problem here, it happened after I nuked a city, and it is also impossible to capture any city anymore. Glad to see it's not on my side and that they are working on it.

Same problem! I nuked three cities. I was able to capture the first one, but when I try to capture the second it crashes every time. No errors reported, the application simply closes.

All good. Thought I had missed some announcement from them.

Yep, had same problem after nuking. Sucks since it was a 15 hour game where I battled back after losing my capital.

I wrote to the support and got the following answer:

"Thank you for contacting 2K Support and for your interest in Civilization VI.

I can certainly understand how encountering this type of issue might be frustrating to experience and I'll do my best to assist you!

I have a few troubleshooting suggestions which will ensure that the game and all its additionally required software is properly installed:

1. Verifying Game Cache
· Load Steam.
· From the Library section, right-click on the game and select “Properties” from the menu.
· Select the “Local files” tab and click the “Verify integrity of game cache” button.
· Steam will match the local files to the cloud files, and fix any errors it encounters.

2. Reinstalling DirectX
· In the Steam installation folder of the game you’re having trouble with, there will be typically be a DirectX setup package.
· Example file path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meiers Civilization VI_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\
· Find and run DXSETUP.exe
· Reboot the computer (mandatory)

3. Reinstalling Vcredist
· Navigate to your game’s Steam folder – there will typically be a Vcredist folder.
· Example file path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meiers Civilization VI\vcredist_CommonRedist\2012
· Find and Run vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe
· Should the files already be installed, you will be prompted to either ‘uninstall’ or ‘repair’. Choose ‘*repair*’.
· Reboot the computer (mandatory)
· Afterward, do the same for those located in the 2015 folder. Ex: : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meiers Civilization VI\vcredist_CommonRedist\2015

If that doesn't resolve the issue, we will need to see the latest copy of your DXDiag and MSinfo files to perform a deeper investigation of your system specs.

This Support Article will show you how to access these files and attach them to your reply.

Once we receive the DxDiag and MSinfo files, I'll investigate your issue and update your ticket.

Should you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us again.

Go forth and conquer!"

I haven't tried doing it yet, as I suspect that won't fix anything. I already did the verifying of the game cache.
