There used to be a purple culture symbol that told you how much culture a certain building was giving. Where has it gone?

If I understand your question correctly, the culture indicator is still there -- only in the form of musical notes. The thing that bothers me in relation to culture is the absence of TOTAL culture from the city listing. I often based my "culture" investments (i.e. who builds what) on this screen and the information on it now isn't much help. Yes, I can see the amount per turn going into culture, but I would really prefer to see how much in total a city has.

The culture icon disappeared with the latest patch (3.13), if you can load Bhurics unofficial patch that will put it back (Bhurics patch also fixes a lot of annoying little things )

Aha...it's the 3.13 patch that has screwed things up. I'll try this Bhurics patch then.
