That would be the crest of the University of Oxford (as I believe they insist on referring to themselves, and not Oxford University as everyone else does). The motto is: "Dominus illuminatio mea" which means "The Lord is my light" and comes from somewhere in the Bible but I'm not sure where.
I once had an interview at Trinity College there when I was green and nutricious, in my salad days, but very fortunately I was not accepted. A couple of my friends went and couldn't fit in at all, not being able to afford to go on most of the high jinks organised by their peers. Also, having all of the exams at the end of the three years seems a little severe these days. Still, you're guaranteed a job running the BBC or whichever company you choose and Simpkins' dad is a major shareholder of. Or am I being too cynical?
Anyway, since my computer here is absolutely worthless then I will be unable to put a portion of an image as the next teaser. Anyone can feel free to step into the breach and post another.

Actually I'd meant the symbol to be for the Oxford University Press, since internationally many people will have seen that logo on the spines or inside covers of reference books and dictionaries (although the OUP's official logo has changed very recently).

It's for Amnesty International, what AI used to stand for before computers.
Do you do cryptic crosswords Stormerne, or are these just off the top of your head? I attempt the Grauniad crossword every day and am successful about 4 or 5 days a week (out of 6 obviously, the Observer crossword's a joke). I'm only missing a couple of answers in today's but will hopefully get them in my lunch hour.
I really should let other people answer these questions since I can't post new ones. Sorry.

These are off the top of my head, though I have been known to attempt the Independent cryptic crossword with varying degrees of success.

The logo was, as you said, that of Amnesty International - the Human Rights organisation - who this year are celebrating their 40th anniversary...

Well I think I'd have found it too if I'd been bothered to keep looking. Following your first clues, I had a look at the badges of the football teams playing in Athens but discovered some really interesting stuff and didn't bother looking any further when I realised it wasn't any of them. I now know random stuff about Panathinaikos (and hopefully how to spell it
smile.gif
). I'd have found it eventually though. Your clues gave the general area away but still left work to do - good clues.

Fairly straightforward Az, even considering I know very little about sport and therefore it had completely escaped me that Athens was hosting the next Olympics.

The way I found it was this. Basically I used Google as my search tool (the ordinary search engine, not the beta image searcher). I looked first for Athens football teams and didn't find a logo match. Then I changed the search criteria to athens and wreath (instead of athens and football) because the logo you posted obviously shows a clip of a victor's wreath. As a result of that search I noticed that there were some commemorative postage stamps being planned which included a wreath so I went to the most relevant Greek site. That's where I saw a miniature version of your logo. Having therefore realised it was the logo for the forthcoming Olympics, I just found the official Olympic site and cruised around until I found one about the size you clipped and posted. Easy.

Hasn't got me any closer to solving Snapcase's question though!

No-one got this, eh?

Final clue: It's one of the biggest Gaming News Sites on the web It started out as a Quake site but now draws all sorts of people with perhaps the Webs best and most thorough compilation of news. Far superior to competitiors ShackNews and WoodooExtreme, at least.
