I'm trying to add custom icons for civilizations (like the vanilla Americans have that white shield on the blue circle) but I'm running into some problems. I've followed the modders' guide instructions from Kael and I've also looked through a lot of threads on here about it (I've been at this all day) but it just never seems to work. My code is basically copied and pasted out of the guide, and as far as I can see it's identical in function to several other mods which do the same thing, but theirs work. I'm thinking I've done something wrong when creating the .dds files. I'm using GIMP, and I've got the dds plugin. I've tried manually through the template given by Firaxis, as well as the .xcf file uploaded to here from this thread, but no dice. Is there anything phenominally stupid I could be missing? Like if the dds files have to be referenced in the actions tab from the project properties in ModBuddy?
What settings, precisely, do people use when outputing dds files from GIMP? There's a whole bunch of options, and I think I've tried them all.
For reference, what I do get when I load my mod is the Civ that should have the new icon defaults to the vanilla American one on the loading screen and civ selection screen, has a blank white circle on the pause screen, has a blank white circle on the score list but that circle is too big for the list, and has two blank white circles in the top left corner when you open a city screen. 'Tis all very confusing, thanks for any help anyone can give me.
