I've seen this happen lots of times..
I finish off an enemies last city, and what happens? - nothing..
The enemy still lives and has all his units without having any cities.

I cannot do spy missions on him, He have/get no gold etc.etc.
Damn annoying..

I usualy solve the problem by waiting some years before taking the city. In my current game however, all nations are attacking this single city, so if I dont take it, they will.. Same result, and I will not be able to go for Conquest-victory :(

Anyone else seen this? Suggestions?

Argh.. this game was up for Hall Of Fame..

gee.. he did :D
Now if I can only find that transport...

I kinda thought you died when you lost the last city.. guess I have to do some more loosing

Actually... wouldn't it be a good idea if the same thing is possible for human players if they got destroyed?

Is it not? I have never tried it, but I thought it would be possible to sail a settler out on the seven seas and still live after your last city i conquered.

someone once posted that he was able to take a settler and refound his civ on a nearby island when his other cities where conquered. never have done it myself though.

why would anyone try taht! if u did u would be cenruries behind, so eventually if they dont find u, ull get bored and quit.......i think

I think as long as you have 1 settler (and your cities are captured), you can still escape. That is, build a settler (and hopefully, galley) before your last city is captured. As long as you have that settler, you're still safe.

Also, the AI will respawn (if you have that option on) in a clear 5x5 space on the map.

I vaguely remember a post like that. He said he was getting ganged up on by several civs and only had a city or two left, so he put a settler in a ship and sailed off to Australia where none of the AI could find him. He then spent several centuries building up an army and eventually went back and destroyed them all.

He might have made that story up, but I could see that happening on Chieftain.

As long as you have a settler you are safe. I played a game on Deity and survived until past 1800 A.D. and I never built a city, just had my settler, scout and worker running around. Finally Japan killed my settler.

And what was your interest in this game ? very funny:lol:

Just to see how long I could survive operating with BARE MINIMUM resources ;) . The AI leaves you alone since you are such a non-existant threat. By trading contacts I got only a couple techs short of getting out the ancient era! But after that I obviously had nothing to trade except for my map. But after awhile my map was useless and the AI would demand what little gold I did have. Eventually I had absolutely nothing to give, so they attacked. With no capital, you get no notice of when they declare war until your worker gets stabbed in the back! I 'survived' 2 wars (lost worker in first one, scout in 2nd) and the 3rd war killed my settler, end of game. It was GOTM 7, but I didn't submit it. Would have been funny to see a score of 0 pts at 1800+ AD., though.

Bamspeedy, i am rolling on the floor laughing:lol: It is very funny to to see that you survive 2 war without any city, . This game can lead to the most extreme situation. I think your game should go into a special hall of fame.

Do you think it was possible to win a UN vote.

No, wouldn't be eligible. Can't build it obviously. And must have a large enough territory (or population) to be on the ballot. It's an unwinnable situation. The best you can hope for is a 2050 histographic loss.

Edit: Not sure if I would eligible to cast a vote though. That would be hilarious if I got to help decide who won!!

The best you can do other than that is using your worker to switch the AI's mines to irrigation or irragation to mines (I did that for awhile to Russia!)

why would anyone try to escape when its so clear they are going to loose.. it would be damn boring ;)

I've "never" been in this situation though as I dont recall loosing any civ-game for years
Give me super-Deity! :D
