I am happy to inform you that all your hints and tips are really paying off !!
For those of you interested, I will now tell you what I just managed! ALL THANKS TO YOU GUYS !!

Being the Celts, I just finished my Demigod conquest on a huge map. Dont laugh, but I am $(*&@# proud to have made it for the first time.. and, (DONT LAUGH!!) I scored 14404... do I hear giggling ??

I sent it to the HOF, dunno if it is worthy, but I sent it anyway !!

As I said, I got a lot of nice hints ant tips along the way, but the crucial tip slipped my fingers cus I did not read a little line FRET sent me about checking out SirPleb's thread on how to maximize the score for milkers.

Yes I forgot to use the sliderbar to get those happy faces in the end turn,
YES I forgot to disband my culture-freaking-reaching 160.000 culturepoints in the year 1951 !! ARGHH:-(

I tried a stunt, rushbuilding settlers in the few turns available before I realized the goddamn culture was making me win.. (imagine, here I am winning demigod level for the first time, and I dont want the victory).. then, with my 50 settlers I built almost the entire map before the end, (this was not in SirPleb's coloumn, maybe cus it doesnt god damn work at all ??) but my score didnt jump up a lot anyway. Even after putting most of my workers in the new cities making ONLY happy faces. As far as I could see, this had no affect at all.. does anyone know ??

But, ok.. it was a learning lesson, 14000 pts is the grandest victory my mortal self has ever had, so I am not crying over my 116 hours spent.

While I was doing better and better in this session, I felt like writing a whole memo so that I could give u all a memorandum about the progress. I felt like a million bucks, and I was aiming for the 55K score. (YEAH RIGHT !!) I started out modestly, thinking DOOM is at hand any time, with 3 COWS !! in my starting city. (Had to move 1 tile to get them all)

I confiscated 4 gems and 2 wines, getting my VERY important iron ore JUST in front of an american settler. MAN it was exciting. All of a sudden, I had Celtic Swordsmen, building them as fast as I could. I had to kick some ass I felt. Maybe I did well, or maybe I was lucky, but I somehow managed to figure out that the americans were always short of cash. I got Literature before anyone, and that really saved my butt, cus I could trade with everyone. My swordsmen started hacking on the americans (with a minor alliance with the zulus to help me) and all of a sudden, they were defeated, with heavy use of artillery units, slowly but surely, the americans ceased to excist. I got confident while the 2 major powers were battling it out, so I eradicated my beloved zulus as well. There I was, with the biggest landmass, BADDEST tech, and HUUUUGE force of artillery. Dividing and conquering. It all ended up with some heavy nuking (HEY, I DIDNT START!!) and in the year 1750 it was ALL MINE !! WAHHA... MINE I SAY !! ready for milking. So here I am, bragging about my demigod victory. I hope u didnt laugh too hard about it. It was MY FIRST !!

Celts actually rule... I like Religous civs, cus I can change government quickly. And, hear this !! Communism REALLY rule. It kicked the **** out of Democrazy (crazy, yes) While I had 4444 scinetific value with communism on max, I only got 3998 with the democracy gov. Go figure !!
So, I kept communism until the end.

Tell me what u think.. tell me I did well or tell me I stunk. Any feedback will be HIGHLY appreciated.

The only thing I can spot right off the bat is that you should have avoided the cultural victory and milked the beast until 2050. That would have made significant difference in your score.

However, taking over a Demigod huge map is no small feat. You truly have HoF skill within you!

ConanConQ - well done! as Superslug said, beating a Demigod huge map is no mean feat whatever the score.


RE: the 50 settler thing not present in SirPleb's article -

From a previous thread, another fellow HOFfer - Eman - believes that doing this with your settlers will only get you 2pts*difficulty more points if you control an extra 1000 tiles on the last turn, so on Demigod, that would have got you 12 extra points - worth doing if you are 11 points from taking the number 1 spot, otherwise I wouldnt bother.

Yeah, the extra Settler thing on the last turn doesn't get many points. It's worth maybe a few FutureTechs, at that. Heck, at the end of one of my HoF games I had all my cities nuke themselves...sometimes twice.

Winning on Demigod is no mean feat.........so perhaps you'll take a crack at SID-Level now!?

Thanks for the annotated game...........I think you have highlighted one very important point:

THE QUICKEST WAY TO IMPROVE IS PLAY, PLAY, PLAY..........and Read the HOF, of course!

P.s. I see you submitted 2 Demigod games to HOF!?....Did you play 2 games?

ehhh... well, no, I did not play 2 games.. it is just that.. I suck at zipping files, dunno if I even did it right or if it is readable for the reciever. I sent the 4000BC start location as well as the END turn. Hoped they would figger it out somehow by themselves. And if not, PLS SOMEONE tell me how to submit the games corectly.
