Before we start spamming our forum with threads and start asking for stickies I would like us to have a brief discussion on how we want our "paper work" done. To have the team work well together will be easier if we can share/find info easily. I learned from the mtdg1 that you soon end up with 3 threads discussing the same thing. My suggestion is that we, in general, try our best to have few but active threads.
In this thread we can also muse on how to organize our anarchy (yes, to function it has to be well organized). In KISS we didn't have executives in any departments and no formal leader to run them, hence no voting on that. What we did have was volunteers gathering info and keeping it accessible to to the team. I think that was a good way to go.
Oh, and I think we should call our dept's "show" just for fun.

Here I will list the suggestions made. This is not what we will do, but what we could do.

Threads

AtK wants a naming thread. Dags agrees and suggests cities and units naming in same thread.

I would like the Gray Hare to be the place where we have our general musings on how to play the game. Here we can paint with the broad brush and be very non-specific

I suggest one thread, Turnplay Log, where the turn played is reported SG-style. No discussion here.

I'd like every show to have it's own thread, except for Diplo that needs one for each opponent.

Daghdha further suggests that threads that are heavy on info get cut off and restarts. Finding one post among 20 pages can be tedious work.

Tim has fired up an abcense reg which I think is excellent.

Shows

Daghie suggests:
The Turnplay Show where the upcoming turn is discussed in detail
The Diplomacy Show
The City Planning Show (dotmaps galore)
The Numbers Show (statistics, graphs, analyzing tealeafs)
The Show of Arms (military matters)
The MM Show (counting the beans obviously)

Agree with the thread management proposals. The Gray Hare sounds like a friendly place to chat. I'm simpatico as well with the notion of a loosely (if at all) organized team. If other teams want to know who's in charge, refer them to Chuck.

Just name any unit that generates a leader. A celebration like that deserves a name.

Daghie - I like your plan.

RF - Last time we named units all sorts of things.

Rick posted this:

I think we should get our threads organized:

- The Defense Ministery - Military buildings, units and strategy
- The Foreign Affairs Ministery - Diplomacy, tech trade, lux trade, map trade, alliances, spying, backstabing and so on
- The Internal Affairs Ministery - Player turns elections, sugestions to players playing their turns, votes and other team issues.
- The Public Works Ministery - City placement overall strategies, city improvements, worker actions, unit movement.
- National History and Statistical Ministery - record of our progress, with the taking of screenshots of everyturns main events and statistical information in-game or off-game (civassist II), mostly for micromaning madness, try to get the more juice of every possible situation.

I will argue against this trying not to sound like a boring knowitall. RF has started a science thread with a really cool name so that has been taken care of. Like he has, we should name the dept's in reference to songs (yes I'm a freak when it comes to coherent organizing), so my idea of naming dept's "shows" got kinda backstabbed (no offense taken RF).
National History and Statistical Ministery seems to be equal to my The Numbers Show so we agree there.
Unlike Rick I would like to put city improvements, worker actions, military buildings and unit movement all in The Turnplay Show. Reason for this is that it makes info much more accessible to the turnplayer who doesn't have to go through a lot of threads to know what to do. Yes, it will be somewhat cluttered from time to time but it's easier to scroll than to shift threads.
We agree on having a military dep't, but I would like it to be only for military strategics/logistics. That means that it would be "dead" until we are attacked or decide to go on a killing spree. The building of mil. units/infra could be discussed in the turnplay dep't.
City placement, yes, and that will be well posted initially so I think it needs a thread/dep't of it's own.
As I have sugessted elsewhere I think we could talk grand strategy (what VC shall we pursue, when do we go to war, whom should we ally with etc) at the Gray Hare. It's warm in there and beer makes you bold and innovative.

The working order as I see it is this:
1. A general strategy is discussed and planned at The Gray Hare
2a. In the diplo dep't we discuss what actions should be taken in reference to that strategy. We post suggestions/drafts on correspondence to our opponents. We post incoming correspondence and discuss that.
2b. In the military dep't we discuss (if needed) military actions in reference to the general strategy.
2c. In the City Planning dep't we discuss (if needed) where to poop the next city (obviously).
3. In the Turnplay dep't all the above is cooked down to what actual moves are to be taken. i.e. worker/unit moves, build sequence, diplomacy in game etc.
4a. In the Turnplay Log, the TP posts what was done like in an SG.
4b. In the Statistical dep't the TP posts numbers (F11, score, standings in pop/area etc).
5. Rinse and repeate :D

To me the departments are not made up of certain members of the team. We are all part of all dept's and thus responsible for their decisions. Therefore we don't need to vote on minister posts. Having said that, I'd like one volunteer to take charge in each area. That includes to be updated on the latest posts and see to that decisions being made (by us all) is carried through. Also that the info needed for the TP is posted in the Turnplayer thread.

Above all this I'd like one thread for our newspaper yet to be named.

I think it's time for me to shut up now...

He he, i saw the dept of departmnents after posting. Was not trying to get my view above yours.

We are tunned so lets get those threads up and running, the names of them are irrelevant to me.

And the newspaper is a good idea, altough its a lot of work so what we need now is volunteers, like you already said.

I have a good feeling abouth this team.

Allright, cool, lets wait a day or two so we can get some more opinions on this, then let's roll :band:
I'm willing to give the newpaper thingy a shot, but since I'm not witty enough in the queens english I will need a lot of help with writing stuff up, but knowing jb11964 from KISS I think we're all good there. I can then package. That plus keeping a close eye on the UN seems to be "my" thing for now.
I share your positive feelings, even more so since I managed to get Tone on the team. I've played a SG with him and he's an ace player and a really nice guy.

I will argue against this trying not to sound like a boring knowitall. RF has started a science thread with a really cool name so that has been taken care of. None intended, I wanted to introduce some celtic flavour into the discussions, and not lose the tech discussions in the civ thread. I was following the spirit of your post, not the letter. :D - but if you want to name the treads get on and create them!! :)

For the cities. Units are way too much. Maybe naming the important units.
NO! WE MUST NAME ALL UNITS! I'll come up with as many damned names at it takes!
