After being yelled at too many times, heres the citizen input thread for the science queue. Heres the current proposal:
1. ceremonial burial
2. iron working
3. mysticism
4. polytheism
5. monarchy
6. alphabet
7. writing
8. the wheel
9. literature
10. pottery
11. map making
12. horseback riding
13. masonry
14. philosophy
15. code of laws
16. republic
17. math
18. construction
19. currency
input, pleeeeease.

Well, my first suggestion is to not bother even thinking beyond the first 4 or 5 techs at this point in the game. No point wasting time debating things which we're almost certainly going to change later on.

Secondly, with my War Ministry issue spiked helmet firmly placed upon my head I request that Iron Working be moved to the front of the queue. As has been said before, even if we're not going to be building swordsmen straight away, it's useful to know where the iron is so that we can ensure that we will have the ability to build swords when we need them. It also lets us know which civs should be watched closely and perhaps kneecapped early on, due to their iron supplies. I think that The Wheel should come next, for similar reasons.

I'm a peaceful player, but there's goody huts, and possible trades with other civs. What if we wanted to go for the archer "rush" (lots of archers - not poprushing) and discovered we were next to the Babylonians? We would need to think about changing techs... Like, iron before Cerimonial Burial.

I say ironworking, alphabet, writing, literature, then not even fund science if we get the Great Library. If we focus on building this wonder, we do have a very good chance of getting it, since the AI does not consider it a priority for some reason. This will give us, within 4 techs, the ability to build the best unit of the ancient age (swordsmen), a cultural improvement that we can build cheaply (libraries), and possibly the one wonder that will keep us from falling very badly behind in technology( Great Library).

While moving towards monarchy makes sense, we may not have the oppurtunity to switch governments because of the military pressure of AI civs. Plus, we will get this soon enough if we build the Great Library.

that is wat i sed!!!
they sed no, we most likly wont even build the gl. ive wanted early science from the start.
c'mon, support a science then no science funding campaign. let the other civs research 4 us.
i motion for a run 4 the gl, then no science funding at all.

those r our 1st 4 techs.
apeases war and peace.
im doin it.
back, i say, back *pulls out sheild and spear*
im gonna do it!

Ahh. Sounds a lot better with iron working at the first tech :). Now we can produce thoes swordmen and bost our production with iron :D.

@SAaM: Iron/Alpha/Writing/Lit... I'll go along with that :)
Let's just see if we have a good consensus on that before you start setting it in stone, though.

@Grandmaster: The hats aren't available yet. At the moment they're our Bronze prototypes, and as such are... howcan I put this? Crap. However we have heard rumours of a new metal that might be a lot better, if only we could find it and learn how to work with it then we might just have a model worthy of greater distribution :D

Anything I can do to help.... I'll rally the GEG and get us working on our Signature Series Kaiser Helmets? Hmm.... I like that...... Signature Series......

Ironworking must be 1st!
Then probably CB,alpha,writing and literature.
This will take some time, the rest can be considered later on.

double post

I'd say Iron/Alpha/Writing/Lit

We'll acquire CB some other way before long, as it and pottery seem to be common hut rewards.

To heck with the great library I say. We need a king that will lead us to greatness!

We should be working towards monarchy after we get iron working.

For once (wait, no, I always do this) I must contest the point. We're going to need the Great Library more than any other wonder in this game. I'd say only the UN (if we go for that victory) can possibly compare. With the Great Library, we actually have a chance to keep up with the AI in science. Otherwise, we'll fall sadly behind and will have Modern Armor rolling over our Pikeman. As for monarchy, we will need it, but it shouldn't be a great priority.
