Die2Nite is an interesting take on the browser games that have come and gone. It puts 40 ppl in a town tasked with survival of the zombie hordes outside.

How do you spend your time? Do you search outside in the wastes looking for materials that might be useful in building up the town's defenses? Do you instead focus on your own survival first, upgrading your house's defenses? You can also spend your time trying to steal from your fellow residents. However, if you get 8 complaint against you, you are banished from the town and must survive the wilderness by yourself (or maybe band together with others who were banished).

Rock Paper Shotgun has a great write up here

I have 2 referrel keys available if anyone wants to try it. Once you survive your first night, you get 3 keys to give also.

EDIT: The game is no longer in beta and free to join for anyone.

I'd love a key if there are any available :)

Depends if the "its like dwarf fortress" bit in the review is true
Iam not interested in yet another browser game. But if its dwarf fortress with zombies that would be something.

It has some dwarf fortress moments (FUN for example) but it certainly does not play like dwarf fortress.

This morning I awoke to the morning news to hear that our town's defenses successfully repelled the 46 zombies (including 8 of our former residents who were left outside the first night) clawing at our gates. Thanks to the crafty builders who spent their time working on the howling saws, our town was quite safe.

The crowds of zombies around the town seemed to spread around which created an opening to the looted supermarket near our town. If we could get to that, there might be some useful items inside. Myself and a fellow citizen set off toward the supermarket with the necessary provisions we thought we would need (water ration, mouldy neapoliton, and an expired biscut) but upon arriving at the location, 10 zombies surrounded us!

Phantom (my fellow resident who I traveled with) brought a water balloon luckily (the zombies die when exposed to water) chucked it at a crowd approaching our position behind some abandoned cars and killed 3. I wielded a rusty chain and slashed toward another zombie as he staggered to our flank. My terrible aim however instead hit the ground and my chain broke rendering it useless.

Since we were starting to get surrounded, we fled into the supermarket and barricaded the doors. All we can do now is hope our fellow citizens will heed our calls for help on our radio...

There is no rain in this world. The entire world is a desert wasteland

EDIT: Post apocalyptic I guess is a better term

Just checked out the home page and its little more then one of those browser games mechanics which are all too familiar. A mix between own RPG stat charactor and stat crunching build / resource game.

I was expecting a lot gameplay and building aka dwarf fortress like co-op play with zombies. But all the combat and defence is compressed down to a simple number crunching.

Damn :/

Did you create an account a join a town? To me the fun is the wrangling up fellow citizens to go on expeditions to find items needed for the town's defense, with the suspense of knowing in the end we are all going to die so any one of us could turn on the others and hoard items for themselves. Do it too early though, and the town will simply banish you (or even execute you if they want to waste the resources)

But yea, the gameplay mechanics are very simple.

This is the sort of thing that can take only 10 minutes a day or so, right? If so, I'd be interested in a key if anyone still has one.

I am out of keys I'm afraid. Check on google for blogs and such that might be giving out keys.

I have a few keys, PM me if you would like one.
