Difference between Conquest and Domination...

Conquest is when you eliminate all AI players.
Domination is when you control 67% of the available land and coast area of the map AND 67% of the wortds population...

It would seem to me that you would get a domination victory long before a conquest victory. How do these players get conquest victories if both objectives are enabled?

Conquest players don't settle conquered lands once they reach the domination limit.

A little more expansively, conquest wins involve razing some of the captured cities, and usually avoiding the building of culture-enhancing structures like temples in the cities that are kept.

In the past, I've sometimes won by conquest while trying to win by domination.

I never had that happen to me, the other way around, now that's another story!

So you don't get to the Domination point if the citizens aren't your's?

No...

nothing like that...

Yes when going for conquest you will undoubtedly have more than 66% of the worlds total population, but....

It will be quite possible that your cultural borders do not in fact cover over 66% of the map.

Bear in mind that inland lakes and coastal waters also contribute to the total number of tiles on the map.

If your border can go there then it will be counted.

You need over 66% of these tiles.

Much harder than you think and much more coverage of the map than the untrained eye would imagine.

I disagree! Your border can expand over sea tiles, but these don't count towards the domination limit. Only lands tiles and coast tiles count. Just check SirPlebs "Maximizing your score" article....
