Hello all,
I've been searching through the forums and have seen a lot of direct IP connect game issues popping up, but I have a slightly different one I'm encountering. Here goes...
We've been running two player, emperor difficulty, 8 to 10 AI games on large and huge (we used to do huge, but switched to large with fewer players in the hope that it would solve our problem). The games play beautifully for quite a while, and if we do not save and load, they play perfectly until very late. The problem we've been encountering is that if we save up in a late game period when things are starting to get busy/interesting (never before grenaders, and we've never made it past tanks with this problem) the game, within two turns, gets stuck in "Waiting to hear from player x" for both of us and we're stuck reloading. This happens consistently at this late period in the game, and currently, we've probably lost 10'ish epic speed games to this problem.
The troublesome thing is though, this never happened before patch 1.61. We had plenty of games that went to the end under our belt before this, but since 1.61, we cannot complete a game due to this problem. We used to play on Huge with 12+ players/AI's in the game and suspected it had something to do with the sheer numbers of units in the game, so we switched to large with 8 to 10, but we still encounter the same problem.
Just to clarify, we have completed many games pre-patch, and our connection does not seem to be the issue. So, can anyone help us? Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there a fix, or something someone can suggest we try? We'd love to get back into the game, but this is getting really, really discouraging.
I apologize if this has been dealt with already, but I didn't see this exact problem cited in any of the Direct IP posts I browse. Lastly, thanks for your patience, and any help you can offer.
Edit: Just want to add that we are not using any mods and both players in the game are using bought and payed for copies of Civ IV.
