If you have 4 alliance, you get +12% yields of every type. It's much bigger than 5% for culture or science attribute points.

PS U can exploit it with Ibn Batuta who gets 6 wild card attributes for 3 ages.

How likely are you to have so many alliances though? I like to play peacefully, but most my neighbors usually attack me, anyway, and once they do, the relationship rarely recovers, even over 3 eras, and even if I don't take any of their cities. Sometimes I'm lucky to be able to sustain two alliances, but occasionally it's just one, and there are times when I have none at all.

Nepal is actually good at this.

All they have to do is program the AI to try to do aggressive things if you have ludicrous yields. It doesn't matter how you get them, because if you're winning peacefully then the way to beat you is to fight. 3% per Alliance is perfectly reasonable, because other players have control over whether or not you get the yields.

AI should not play that way. If AI plays like players with the intent to screw you instead of roleplaying the game, things like that will be come useless, as the AI will never do it. Also, I don't believe they know what you have in terms of points, just like you don't know theirs either.

1) Being afraid of the big bad *is* roleplaying. You got into the lead by grabbing the best land, by building all the coveted wonders, by having the best empire (which is worth conquering). If the other players were roleplaying, they'd all be pissed at you for being a bad faith ally, envious at you for being the lucky one, or vengeful for you taking the land/wonders they felt were theirs. I'm not saying they should all 180 from friend to enemy suddenly. In fact, the diplomatic system prevents them from doing so (which is good). But a player (I don't just mean a human I mean someone who is trying to participate in the game) would look for a way to catch up or a way to bring you down. Maybe espionage while staying your ally (which they do already), or settling in your face to start reducing relations and steal land from the leader (which they did but everyone complained about forward settling), or allying your enemies and betraying you (which...they might do? Hard to say if it's purposeful or not).

2) You don't need to know that someone has Attribute points that make Alliances helpful to know that someone has obscene yields and is winning. That just shows up on the banner. And that person should be ganged up on, regardless. Clearly, the status quo is working out better for them than for you. That's why this is the appropriate solution to this imbalance, because it applies regardless of the method of imbalance or the actual numbers involved.

That's very easy. Just make as much traderoutes as possible and maximize early influence to be able always to support offered endeavors. That's why I chosen Greek for start or you can make it other way like choosing right pantheon..

Btw, check my full report for this strategy here https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/deity-science-victory-strategy-through-diplomacy.697280/

but, I was able to have only 4 alliances, but that was definetly enough.
