Disappearing / Invisible Resources... Help!!

In my second game (on larger map), I've noticed that some (most) of the animal resources (cow, pigs, horses) disappear from my map.

Actually, they are there (you can see the shadows) and putting my cursor over the area identifies them, but the actual graphics are gone.

Why is this happening? (didn't happen in my first game) and I am only about 30 turns into this one.

Has this happened to anyone else???

I think it's because your Graphics settings are set on "Low." Mine's are set on low and I have the same "problem." If you press cntl-r, resource symbols will show you were the resources are, and you have to press this everytime you restart your game.

yeah, i upped it to medium but no joy...

damn i wish i could just play this thing the way it was meant to be played...
