disappearing units

I've recently tried to play a two player hot seat game using the latest version of Fall Further. We both played clan of embers on the same team. Throughout the game our units would appear to join the barbarians. I can find no reference to this online anywhere and I'm wondering if there was a glitch or is the computer supposed to take units away from me for balance. Anybody know?

Were you building Asylums in your cities?

Nope. We became Ashen Veil later in the game but they started defecting right away. I just started a new game and I'm only in the first 50 turns and I'm already losing gretchin. I was hoping that there was some key to minimizing this through luxuries or stationed units, etc.

There is no promotion I've noticed that is causing them to run. It's not just madness.

I missed the part where you said you were playing Fall Further. Sounds like a game mechanic for the Clan.
