disbanding armies in order to...

How can I disband my armies without destroying the units, so that i can upgrade the units that make up that army.
Has someone, or could someone, make a mod that would allow the removing of units from armies in the gam?

Not that I am aware of anyway. I heard there was a time when a bug allowed you to do that, but I never tried it. That would be an exploit. I would just keep it or disband it for shields and make a new army.

Often I get to the point that I have an obsolete army and a leader, but ran into the limit of armies. So I disband one and create a new one. Dumping that AA army and make a cav army.

There was an old bug back in Vanilla I think that took advantage of the process of loading/unloading units onto ships that allowed you to unload units from armies, but it has been fixed. Otherwise, no, you can't take units off armies. If you build the Military Academy though, you can just build some more armies.
