Do I seriously just have to delete stuck + stacked units?

Can I end the turn if a unit of mine is stacked but cannot move anywhere? Or am I basically screwed and have to delete it?

If I have to delete it, ridiculous oversight.

You should never be able to end a turn on the same square as another unit. I don't know how you managed that.

I have had this happen to me as well; I told a horseman to explore a fogged area, but the tile ended up having a city-state's unit on it. I have no idea how the horseman managed to occupy the same tile as the city state's unit in the first place, it must be some kind of bug related to moving into fogged tiles.

All of the other hexes around this tile were occupied or coastal (didn't have optics yet so couldn't just sail away). The horseman had 1 movement point left; I tried to leave him there but I couldn't end the turn because the MOVE STACKED UNIT warning was there.

I decided to just declare war on the city-state and attack an adjacent unit instead of deleting the horseman. It's definitely possible to get stuck in a situation where you have no choice but to disband your unit, though.

If it happens again I'll try that Delra.

It happened in the middle of the most powerful army in the world, so the declare war option was not available to me :(

Definitely an issue with moving into fog though, that's how it happened to me.

Ive had units end up stacked a couple times. Makes you wonder how late into developement they decided to go with 1UPH

Yesterday I was forced to shift-enter when my puppet cities that were still in disorder (Monty handed me 4 cities after we both had taken a city from each other and I was attacking a 2nd city), and which had to have production assigned, which I can't do of course.

I had this same problem (only I was Monte), and didn't know how to get out of it. Now I do. thanks
Spoiler :
I reloaded the game and replayed the conquest. Took four tries to get same success as the first no-reload result.

The only time I've seen units accidentally stack is during a battle. Unit A attacks unit B. Both survive. I right-click unit C onto unit B to have it attack. The interface accepts the attack command, but the only way for unit C to close on unit B is to take a path that ends on top of unit A. The attack goes off fine, but assuming units B and C survive, unit B is now stuck on top of unit A, neither of which can move.

this happens too, at least for me, when you construct a unit in a city with a unit already garrisoned... might be the origin of the 'bug', but the game should not allow it to happen outside of cities... oversight, yes, bug, maybe not.
