Hello.
Do fortified ships get a defensive bonus? I wish I knew.
In my current game, I had a caravel fortified on a coastal tile. It had just been attacked by an Indian privateer and had won, but was down to 2 HP. In the same turn, a Sumerian vet caravel (4 HP) came and, to my surprise, attacked my damaged caravel and won. I thought it was a strange decision, because the AI generally doesn't attacks when it can see the odds are against it. So, I decided to use the Civ3 combat calculator to calculate the probabilities, but I don't know if I have to check "unit fortified" or not. If not, the Sumerian attack had about 49.5% chances of winning. If yes, less than 40%. That makes some difference.
So, who knows?
