Minimum
- Windows 2000/XP with SP1 or higher
- Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon CPU with at least 1.2 GHZ
- 256 MB RAM
- 64 MB graphics card with Hardware T&L (GeForce 2/Radeon 7500 or better)
- DirectX 7 compatible soundcard
- DVD-ROM drive
- 1.7 GB free hard disk space

Recommended
- Windows XP with SP1 or higher
- Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon CPU with at least 1.8 GHz
- 512 MB RAM
- 128 MB graphics card with DirectX 8 support (pixel- and vertex shaders)
- DirectX 7 compatible soundcard
- DVD-ROM drive
- 1.7 GB free hard disk space

So, where are you? :)

I barely have the recommended requirements. ;) 1.92GHz, 512 MB RAM.

I meet the recommended requirements, thanks to a new computer about 4 months ago, when my old (which did not meet the minimum requirements) dies. Stroke of luck it seems!

My laptop handled Pirates smoothly...should do the same with Civ4

I exceed almost all of the recommended requirements :D

- Windows XP with SP1
- Intel Pentium 4 with 2.8 GHz
- 1024 MB RAM
- 128 MB ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 - DirectX 9 compatible soundcard
- DVD-ROM drive & DVD writer :)
- 20+ GB free hard disk space

I meet the recommended requirements.. or I did until my video card died last week.. but I'll be replacing it before Civ 4 gets here

Both my desktop & notebook meet the minimum, but not recommended requirements. I'll be OK with turning the graphic options down a bit.

The desktop is OK on processor (2ghz) and RAM (512), but only has a 64 MB GeForce 3. The notebook is OK on RAM (512), but only has a 1.6ghz processor and a 64 MB RADEON Mobility 9000.

Alas, I`m not.... Though my hardware is ok, I fail on OS... I use ME... That means I have to upgrade... more money needed! Hmmm... However, I`ll try it first just to see if it works. Otherwise....no choice. This game must be worth all the money invested. Sigh!

I meet over the recommended requirements so its :cooool:

If Civ IV doesn't run on my beast of a machine I may scream.

My comp meets the minimum in everything except Video Card. I'm going to risk running it anyway and see what happens. If worse comes to worst, I'll just upgrade in a month or so when I get some cash...

Nope. I have only Win Se (Windows 98 Second Edition). I have a good computer (Athlon 2800xp, more 750 Mo Ram, 128 Mo video card, etc.), but i don't want buy XP just for a game. I have already a Linux Mepis for all my others works/games (Arf, Enemy Territory ! Fear the MG powâââââââ !).

I think I just barely meet the minimums

I can run Rome Total war and Pirates, so I assume CIV IV should be fine. I don't know why it wouldn't. CIV is not about graphics and it never has been. It kind of irritates me that the requirements are on par with games like AOEIII and RTW. I can't figure it out. From having seen them in action, the graphics in these other games are awesome, as far as strategy games are concerned, and the screenshots from CIV IV reveal quite inferior graphics and dynamics. But again, I love CIV because it isn't about the graphics, it's about unparalleled engrossing gameplay that consumes your life!

So...I'm pretty disappointed.

Those are not high specification requirements for a game. If you don't meet the minimum or are close to the minimum then it's about time for an upgrade anyway.

Everything's fine except one thing:

I only have a 32 MB graphics card and I don't have Hardware T&L. What happens with me? Play the game without some stuff or can't play the game at all? :(

I (hopefully) meet the minimum requirements. I can run the Age of Empires III demo on my PC, and it barely stalls at some points in the game (discovery of techs sometimes...). I hope I won't be forced to upgrade anything.

Interesting to see that 13% voted that they don't meet the minimum requirements and is not about to upgrade either. But posting here means they're interested. :) That means Firaxis misses approximately 13% of potential buyers, basically because 3D seems to be a must in games.

I need a new graphics card. That should help with Sims2 also though. I got a new computer almost a year ago, but even then, it still only had the built-in motherboard video card. I'm not all that big of a gamer though so it never bothered me. I will be upgrading, however, I am about to wet my pants I'm so excited about this release!!! (Not literally.)
