Do you randomie leaders or do you choose? I use to randomise since it's so hard to find a leader... And if it's one i don't like i start over...

How do you do?

At this point I've played so little, that I'm still in the controlled experiment phase. Once I've played all the leaders I might randomize, but not yet.

PS

I'd really hate getting the Clan of Embers or the Doviello, so I never randomize.

I even choose about half of my enemies and randomize the other half. I really don't like games with *no* evil leaders at all, and I like some of the civ's flavour so much that even if I don't play them I at least want them as enemies or potential allies. (The Calabim, for example, and often the Ljosalfar.)

I max out the number of civs on Huge maps, so I haven't seen any huge imbalances in alignment for my games (at least, until RoK spreads across the land...).

I don't think there are any civs/leaders that I refuse to play. I think I've played just over half of them by now (using random, with some repeats).

There are so many leaders I feel uncomfortable playing as so, so far I've been picking civs. I've almost always played as the Calabim so far, but I've started some games with Sheaim recently.

Now with the new throphy hall, I'm gonna try winning with all civs on Monarch or higher, starting with the evil civs, then maybe the good or the neutral.

I randomize my opponents though, but there seems to be a trend in what opponents I get. It would be nice if the map scripts or the FfH python reassigned AI opponents based on what leader you are (picking enemies), and then picking enemies to that leader. So if you picked Alexis, you might get Cardith Lorda as one of the leaders in that game. This could be an option in the custom game.

(I just checked the XML and many good leaders doesnt have any enemies anymore, were they removed in .22 to make them a bit more passive in war declarations?)

Wouldn't it be good if, when choosing the AI opponents we could specify that we want an opponent to be good/neutral/evil but randomize which good/neutral/evil leader is chosen. This would be good if you didn't want to select your opponents (as you might tend to choose the 'easy' ones, or even the 'hard' ones) but you wanted to ensure a good balance of alignments.

"Roll Dice"

Hah! You actually had an entry for me. I find this a good way to randomize without, say, picking a barbarian nation on a map with no barbarians, or the lanun on a highlands map. If my roll is "Lanun" or "Clan of Embers" in such scenarios I simply reroll.

I always randomize and stick to the Fates' choice. I (mostly) play on fractal maps too because it ensures some randomization without being stuck with a maze map or some such.

I really enjoy playing any civs in any kind of situation, I feel like I get better at understanding the mechanics that way. It also ensures replayablity which I need to be able to enjoy a game so long as I did Civ. (all of them)

This said: FfH has really struck a sensitive spot in me and since I heard of it, I didn't play Vanilla. Maybe I'll try again when Beyond the Sword gets out.

In Single player games I choose who i play.
In Hotseat games We roll dice to see who we get.

I always choose, so as not to get a lot of the same civ over and over. Though I admit to avoiding civs I dislike (Cardith Lorda, for example).

At the beginning I randomised but now after I played some games I want to try out the rest so I chose.

Enemys are almost always randomized but sometimes I chose few that I want to have to get a challenge, like the elfs, Clan, Lanun on water maps.

I always choose. I usually plan out my whole game before it starts, decide what kind of victory i'll go for, who'll i'll play etc.

Right now I randomize because it forces me out of my comfort zone. Left to my own devices I'll choose Sabathiel, Rohanna or Charadon depending on my mood. By randomizing, I learn how the other civs work. Know your enemy.

I always choose Logos for Elohim.

I almost always choose. Pick most (Onion, Varn, Calabim, Balseraph top the list of enemies), and have a few left over for randomising the leader pool. Good vs Evil generally for me... Save or burn I say
