Do you randomise or choose?

How do you choose?

I choose. My next game is going ot be all neutral civs. I just experiment and hope it won't get boring.

I always pick my civs (Khazad, Luirchip, Elohim, Calabim, Kuriotates, Sheaim, Ljo or the magic civ)

I'm a randomizer. I play most games through about T3/T4 units and get annoyed with the lack of ability in the AI before starting over. I haven't had a real caster in a long time, come to think of it.

I'm curious if anyone uses Smartmap for FFH2. I -LOVE- smartmap and putting on many huts & many bonuses. Smartmap does a great job of spreading out civs so you can fit a couple extra on a map type and still have plenty of room for barbs, choke points, & Hyborem.

In the begining I choose random. But now I decide what kind of game I'm in the mood for (War, Building, Magic mastery, whatever), then I choose a leader for that and then pick a map type based on both the game type and my leader choice. There are so many combinations I want to try. This game excels in the replayability factor!

Ghandi did you set up that one choice all for me?

I appreciate it.

I love about a third of the civs in the game (Amurites, Sheaim, Calabim, elves, Luchuirp, Balseraph) and am still curious about several more (Mercurians, who I hope will be selectable in Shadow, Malakim, Clan now that wolves are dirt-common, both Hidden races). With this many choices I'm thrilled about, there's plenty of game variety and I see no benefit to randomizing.

You can play Mercurians by building the mercurian gate after hyborem spawned.

Yeah, nobody ever seems to summon Hyborem if I don't. I suppose I could found the veil, summon hyborem, reject my own evil ways, and summon Basium, but that seems highly convoluted.

Mercurians probably wont be, but they will probably get a scenario in Ice. They will lose their feel if they are selectable, I like the current idea of them attacking Hyborem when he shows up. As the A.I gets better (I get a feeling alot of Shadow will deal with the A.I) Hyborem and Basium will probably show up in more games.

I like the same civs you do, I havn't played Luchiurp yet, but they seem like a fun civ to play. And it was a while since I played the elves.

I also like playing Tasunke, after playing one game with him was fun. Didn't play out exactly as I'd hoped, but the game had two evil and two neutral civs, and I went the Order for the first time, and as a Good Civ I won a domination victory after erasing the heathen Cassiel and Svartalfar from the planet, sharing it with the decimated Calabim.

I also played a game recently with the Clan. It was fun, I tried Jonas, but I want to try Sheelba in my next game with them. It was fun actually being at peace with the barbarians. The goblin scouts only have 1 movement, but it is balanced by them being totally safe, they wont even be attacked by animals, so they can pick what battles they want to engage in. Eventually I won a Religious Victory, and at the same turn the Barbarians declared war on me for being "too civilized".

I mostly randomize until have something acceptable. :)

I randomise and if I get a bad civ I complain to everyone else to restart.

I also do this if I don't get two gold in my fat cross.

I always quit games unless I get at least two gold mines in the fat cross and pop Bronze Working by turn 5.

I always randomize every game as well, but I quit if I dont get Grigori.

Hey someone else picked "I dont play."

Other than myself - who is still desperately trying to stay away from the seductive, and ever temptuous life of a avid gamer?

I am afraid I very likely will fail in my vows, and soon. :(
