I see the MOO1 secession games, and occasionally people talk about MOO3, but MOO2 never seems to be mentioned. I don't have MOO1 and I much prefer MOO2 over MOO3.

I do play it, but it suffers from more clutter less game syndrome--the individual ships and planetary advances don't really add much depth, just pretty graphics. I do like the tech tree a bit more than moo's and the custom races make for some interesting self handicapping--although there are some that are just silly-good.

basicly it's a nice enough game without the staying power of the original moo, or the prettiness of newer games.

That's just my opinion tho.

You can definitely find the original moo on the web, and it's even abandonware now so it's not like you're taking money away from the publisher/developer by downloading it.

Moo2 is alive more then u think! We have a player ladder and games each day on kali. Look here http://www.lordbrazen.blogspot.com/

Moo2 is not just pretty graphics. Only guys who doesnt really know this game may say this! Custom races and ships plus many cool techs gives a decent strategy game! By my opinion far better then Moo1 and Moo3!

I have only MOO2 and I think it is a good game. I often play it with a friend in the hot-seat mode. Maybe I'll try an other version, but I don't want to buy it before I know it.

MOO2 is awesome and i still play it. Takes a bit of work to get it to run right on W2000, but doable. First you need the patch, then the anti-mouse-freeze patch, then you have to kill DirectX. You still get problems (well, I do), but it's possible to complete whole turns without a graphical screwup.

Or, I suppose, one could just load W98 onto their machine...

I had no trouble loading MOO2 on XP and no problems running it. I haven't downloaded any patches.

I still play MOO2 also. The game has been getting more cranky as it finds itself installed on newer and newer systems, but it still works.

I play Moo2 regularly on XP. It does have a mouse sticking issue, but I got MoSlo and it works great.

I play Moo1 at least as much as Moo2, but I have not gone back to Moo3 since teh first month.

I am mostly an offline player when it comes to such videogames and i always replay MoO2 with a real pleasure. Even through the years, in its category i never found a game being superior to it.

Fancy graphics appear with new products, that is certain, but gameplay or AI always disapoint in recent games and finally i always come back to MoO2 or SMAC.

Since some time, i am enjoying the new unofficial patches from this site

I play MOO2 as well. And I have had no problems running it
under XP. And Civ2 as well.

I play moo2...
Although, when I first bought it I found it humerous that the acc for it was: MOO: BAA
Heh, Sakarra Farmers Unite ;)

*looks at name* heh, heh, heh.

I've gone back to it recently having found the XP patches. Its still a seriously good game.

I love MOO2 and play it from time to time when I get bored with other games. It has a 'never the same game' feeling to it that I like. I still hold out hope that there may someday be a MOO4. :)

Moo2 is one of my favorite games. I don't like how slow it is when playing multiplayer, but thats with all turn based games. But in single player mode, I love it.

most singleplayers sit back and wait and wait and wait.....and after 200-300 turns they have outproduced/outteched the AI.

Online Multiplayer is aggressive.....most battles are between turns 80-130.

So I would say that most MP games are not longer (even measured in hours). Especially a 1v1 can be quite fast.

When you are a SP blitzer....ok....difficult to be faster. But my fastest MP blitzes (large map) was also just a 50 min game.
