Does Defensive Bombardment Work for an un-Stacked Unit

I already know that defensive bombardment works for units in a stack. For example, if a 1-hitpoint battleship is escorting a 4-hitpoint transport the transport gets defensive bombardment from the battleship.

But what about the battleship by itself? Does it still get the defensive bombardment when it is all alone?

I had thought that it does, but from the thread you're talking about I'm not so sure anymore.

If/when I see a lone unit do DB, I'll let ya know.

I don't think this works without a stack. I have gone and had several fights battleship vs. battleship, and neither got a bombard before the real fight. Then again, I'm reduced to Vanilla til C3C comes out, so I guess it might be differnet for 'quests.

Only units that are not currently defending gets to bombard defensively. This means:

a) Lone units never gets to do a defensive bombard.
b) If a strong defender with defensive bombard (say TOW Inf) is stacked with a weak one without (say a Tank), no defensive bombard takes place (assuming there are no other units with bombard cap in the stack).

yep like TLC said, one unit you don't get the bombardment option. basically a ship gets one shot whether it be bombardment of fighting normal. also if you got 3 battleships you will have one defending and two can be used for bombardment but once those use their bombardment you have no more bombardment anymore and the 3 ships have to fight normally.
