Dont laugh-the sims

You get your sims to read the paper or use a computer and click on the find a job option. On the paper there is only one job choice so if you don't want it, you have to wait until the next day. Using the computer you get 4 choices. Its best to have only a few sims because I have found that if you give too many sims jobs, their vechiles will never turn up and so they will never go to work.

Btw when you accept a job it will say when you will be picked up and then make sure your sim is awake when the car arrives and then you click on it and then click on go to work. You have an hour to go to work before the car will leave.

ok, wich jobs are preferable, i saw the criminal career, that sounds interesting, but the army career was good paying, what jobs are good?

I never played it enough to see which career was best but its probably best to choose the job that gives you the most money to start with. I ended up using the money cheat quite alot because that way my Sims would not get depressed.

I think the politician one is pretty good but you only start as a campaign organizer or something. In order to advance, you need to make lots of friends.

For the other careers, in order to advance to better jobs you need to develop skill points. Example: for a sports career you need to develop body points, which can be obtained by using the workout machine.

k, but about friends, for noe of my guys to advance within the army(he is counter intel.) he must have 1 friend, now that friend could he be one of the other ppl living in the same house or must it be one of the neighbors?

Military is a good starting track because it pays the best to start and has regular hours. Science is a good long term trak. You will make decent money in the end, and you have to work the least for it throughout your carreer. All kinds of info and analysis can be found at Gamefaqs.com.

I just need to shoot myself if I buy another one of Maxis' no win games. They're fun to figure out for a while, but once you have, your left with nothing but the accumulation of more weath and stuff.

I hate trying to make friends and its the easiest thing to cheat on. Just start another family, wait for your original worker to come round and become frineds. Then go back to your original house. ;)

Thats not cheating thats just using your brain!
I think that game rules I have Livi'n large and Hot Date. after a while of playing the game it becomes like a soap oprea and just keeps getting more complicated to keep up with........
Like for Instance I had this couple Frankie and Sylvia and they created a kid by way of lovebed ;) and I thought it would be a good Idea to buy the little girl a rocket launcher for the out side but one day she was playing with it and the rocket came down right on top of a lawn flamingo and caught the kid on fire so frankie ran out and saved his daughter but he got killed in the fire himself!
so then there was only Slyvia and her daughter but frankie had all the freinds so then Sylvia then turned gay and asked a lady named tea to move in with her and help get freinds!
but tea soon went off and married ken and moved in with him in his house with his dad rick.
then tea asked sylvia to move in with her and ken and she brought her daughter.
so now tea and ken are married and living in the same house as sylvia and her daughter but sylvia hates ken and has had fights with him many times (which she usually wins because of her better body skills) all because sylvia still loves tea!
also ken and tea have had a boy named Joey!
oh did I also mention that Frankie (former husband of Sylvia) is in the living room in an urn and every now and then his gost wanders the house and scares people?

As a rule, jobs with less money to start with get much more money at higher levels than jobs that give a good wage to start with(and vice versa).

I get anoyed sometimes when my sims decide to change carrers on there own
then you have the problem of just paying the bills because by that time you have a huge pimped out house!

Make money honestly or cheating? If you wanna cheat there's a lot of cheats for it:

Pressing: Ctrl+Shift+C will bring up a text box in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

Typing: ROSEBUD will give you a thousand dollars

Typing: !;!;!; continusously, and then spacing, will give you more money than you can ever have imagined - from hundreds of thousands to millions and billions of dollars.

Now lavishly wallpaper the house, buy them expensive things, and live large!

OR job-wise:

Military is the easiest to climb the ladder, but churns out the lowest pay: $600. Mechanical level must be 10 to escalate to the top.

Entertainment is one of the better: a lavish $1600 per day, but have to have at least 11 friends.

Friends is one of the harder aspects, but if you don't have Hot Date or Vacation you shouldn't have that hard of a time. Just talk, talk, and talk. B/c you can't have more than one talk at a time, just talk, go here, talk, and so forth, then delete the go here's.

Then feed them and have a romantic relationship to seal the deal. By the end, you'll have a 100 love relationship. Just be sure that they're not too tired or anything.

I think the cheats are different for the English version although I'll need to check that.

Surely aren't they all the same? I'd think so.

I think they are all the same, but I think one of the expansion packs/patches disallowed a couple of the old cheats, but the !;!;!: cheat still works, IIRC.

The entertainment job is the one where once you get the top position, you make the most money/hour. You only have to work like 5 hours a day or something. All the other jobs take so much time out of your day that it makes it alot harder to sustain all those friendships.

And make sure your sims go to work in a good mood. This leads to faster promotions. I would sometimes change careers every few days so I could get all that bonus money from the quick promotions.

Except I don't think that would matter too much unless there are no stay at home sims, since I usually have the stay at home sim do most of the socializing.

Uh-uh. I recall on the official Sims site - Q+A - and for all expansion packs they said that "no cheats will be removed. We may add one or two, though" so ROSEBUD is still effective. Through HD, at least - you could even use ROSEBUD during a date in Downtown!

Entertainment is a demanding job - you have to have 14 friends to be able to rise to the top and all Charisma + lots of creativity. Better spend time in the mirror - you'll be loving it by the time you get to a Superstar.

Good moods help, yes. And that cheat - getting sims fired to be able to get them promoted w/ job bonuses is a well-known one. There's also another infamous one - only pay for bills every other time to save on money.

My sister loves the game and everytime i'm over there, we waste hours playing with them. I was thinking of buying the deluxe edition since I don't own the game and my sister is four hours away. Or do you think it best to wait for on-line to come out in November. Since the cable modem is getting installed this weekend, dial-up will not be a problem. However I'm not sure which one I'd play more. Anyone hear anything about the on-line version? Is it any different? Does your sim continue to play if you are not there? Thanks a bunch :)
