Doubt about the Secret Societies mode?

I was doing nothing, and I decided to see the news about civilization VI, when I saw a comment about the new game mode, the secret societies ...
In what was said to be a multiplayer-focused mode, I was very frustrated, because I like it a lot and play the single player mode a lot ...
But I am aware that this is a rumor, nothing confirmed, and I hope that it is totally wrong, that it is a mode for single player and multi player mode ... so I hope.

It's an optional mode that you can turn on to play with the base game so you can play single player or multiplayer with it.

Afaik Red Death is the only multiplayer-focused game mode / scenario.
The game modes added with the season pass will all be available (and presumably enjoyable) in single player mode.
