Well, I just wanted to know if it's possible to patch down civilization IV from version 3.17 to version 3.13 without having to uninstall it altogether.

Any response would be much appreciated.

No, I do not think so. You'll have to uninstall. In the future, you can copy your existing Civ4 directory (under Program Files) and then install the latest patch, so that you have a game playable under each patch version (a "dual install").

You have to hack the registry, the keys/strings that indicate which version is installed. I believe if you change the string over to say 1.52 - then you'd be able to install the 1.61 or 1.72 patch again... Though you might wind up with a fubarred install with some odd files strewn about.

What I have done, is copy all the CDs to my Data drive. I install them from HD. Its about 4x as fast or faster :-) You don't needa dupe them with software, just straight off copy the files. When there are 2 cd's just copy the extra data.cab into the same HD folder.

Spoiler :
Code:

Run the setup.exe from the Harddrive :-)
Works for all 3 games, Vanilla, Warlords; BTS.
