Dragon roar volume?

I captured Acheron in my last game playing as the Calabim, then proceeded to turn him into a vampire dragon and lay waste to the world. However, one thing I noticed was that his sound files were painfully louder than the rest of the game sounds. It also seemed to get worse as time went on and he got more powerful; eventually, I had to turn the sound off completely when using him to avoid damaging my speakers.

Is there anything I can do to adjust his sound volume individually?

Try lowering iMinVolume and iMaxVolume in AS3D_UN_DRAGON_BREATH_IN and/or AS3D_UN_DRAGON_ROAR in Audio3DScripts.xml.

I have also noticed that some of the dwarven units are painfully loud.

My ears are still ringing from repeated shouts of "MAKE NO MISTAKE!"

Just curious. How did you capture him playing as the Calabim?

Thanks, and I agree his roar can knock you out of your seat sometimes.

I guessing they used an Inquisitor and got lucky. That's more likely than using domination on Magnadine an using the Hippus Hero to capture him (I was about to say risking a really high level vampiric archmage to capture the Dragon directly, then I realized that his magic immunity means that would just be thowing the archmage away.)

Yeah, I have the same problem. I know Acheron is a dragon but he's still ridiculously loud! Likewise, the sea serpent noise is too loud - it sounds like a copy of Acheron's loud breathing but it's for a semi-submerged aquatic animal...

I've wondered if the sounds and music for FFH2 were ever normalised all together. There's a pretty wide range of volumes in them. It can be easy to adjust (eg, turn the sound down when playing as Khazad) but in some cases (eg, assaulting Acheron's city) it becomes very noticable and detracts from the game :cringe:

I think the sound 'spring' spell is a bit loud, and long. As a non-combat spell that gets used rather frequently and is of low power it would seem that the 5 or 10 seconds it seems to last would be a bit long, coupled with that loud rush of water.

To me, it appears fair since you change a desert into a plain. Can you imagine the amount of water required to change a desert into a plain???

Still, it could be reduced a bit, just for ear comfort. :)
