The product I bought claimed to have functionalties that are not there (like PBEM). This means we are entitled to patches, because we paid for these options. At least that's how dutch law works.
I've been playing PBEM since 1.04f and so have thousands of other players, so you're going to have a hard time proving to the court that there is no PBEM functionality
Claiming that it's buggy is a totally different thing, and shouldn't be too hard to prove, but based on the assumption that since Danish and Dutch laws are very similar in many other respects, I'm pretty certain that these bugs don't entitle you to anything, I'm afraid. There is no such thing as bug-free software anymore, and if courts gave consumers the right to a refund or a claim to patches, we would soon see the end of the Software industry.
My last post on this issue, since it reminds me to much of not having the latest patch and having to live with annoying work-arounds.
(which btw wont even all be solved with this latest patch) My silent protest will consist of not buying future products from infogrames and Firaxis unless I'm 100% sure they work properly.
I never buy a game unless I'm absolutely certain it will meet my requirements (which doesn't mean that I expect it to be bugfree, for reasons stated above). I read all the reviews I can get my hands on, ask friends, read forum and usenet posts, try out any demos and view all promo-videos, and if it's a game from a company I don't know much about, I go to their website and try to figure out if they have a good or bad history of patching and support. Then usually about 2-3 weeks after, I make a decision.
I can definitely only recommend that - I have only very few games in my collection that I wish I hadn't bought, as a result. So, go for it
