I was just wondering if anyone knows how to get a earth map to work with fall from heaven 2. I am a advid Earth player and an advid Fall from Heaven fan. I would like to see if there was a way to get the best of both worlds?

I have allot of different eart maps, but as of yet have been unable to transfer them into the FFH2 mod. Any ideas?

Thanks

Open the map in Notepad/Notepad2/Notepad++ and search and remove anything that they reference that does not exist in FfF. Resources like Aluminum, Gunpowder, Uranium, and Oil have to go. You could replace them with resources like Mana, but it would probably be easier to just remove all the resources and turn random resources on. Any units, promotions, or buildings preplaced on the map that are not found in FfH will also cause a crash. Obviously, all the civs/leaders must be changed to FfH civs/leaders too.

Here is an old (incredibly resource rich) Earth map for .31e. It will probably need some tweaks to even load up with the latest patches, and it needs some serious rebalancing... but it might be worth a look, even if just to steal some ideas.

The one long game I played on it, the Infernals spawned on Australia, not the strongest area to be, but it was fun watching the Land Down Under become the Demonic Land On Fire.

Thanks for the advice MagisterCultuum, but that is a little above my pay grade. i did forward your advise to one of my friends that thinks he can take a look at it.

Loki thanks, I am going to try that out now. May be a good blueprint for me to use.

Bummer it doesn't work. get crash every time. It is most likely a problem from different patches beign released for the game.

I'm assuming it has to do with the Compassion line of civic choices, and the city artstyles. I will see if I can get it to at least load up. *crosses his fingers*

EDIT: Alright, removing the Compassion lines, and changing the city artstyles made it so I could actually load up the scenario. Now, every civilization starts with "You have been defeated", and I don't know how to fix that problem...

hmm. well tosses hands up in the air. I tried for about 4 hours and couldn't get it to work with that m ap. I even tried putting in Ryhe's standard map but still no go.

Weird, it wont let me upload it unless I rar it first, oh well, it seems to work now, I didnt change anything other then setting random lairs=true since there didnt seem to be any at all.

Only change needed was to remove the compasion civic listing from all the civs.

If you have any other problems let me know, no promises though, I'm far from being an expert at this. ;)

As I said... well, I'm not an expert. I added the random lairs=true and it seemed to FUBAR everything, I'll see if I can fix it and reupload.

OK, this one seems to be working now, setting random lairs to true seems to cause all sorts of problems though, so just dont do it. Of course, that means there are no lairs currently in here since I didnt add anything. If people want I can probably add some as well as make a version that works with Fall Further.

WOW...I will try this tonight and let you know!!! :D

I keep getting you have been defeated once the game loads. I left the options as you had them on there. But everytime I load the game no matter which civ i choose i get you have been defeated. Any ideas?

LV - I was just editing the one lokifireson linked to.

CC - Hum... thats what I was getting when I had put in the random lairs option (its not one of the ones you can select from in the game, have to add it to the file). Not sure, I'll see what I can check though.

CC - well, I downloaded the one here (dont think compressing it and uploading it should do anything, but just to be sure) and selected the scenario (normal, not as custom), running as Malakim seems to work fine.

Do you have the latest patch?

Ok, well, I started a new game and now Im getting the instant defeated. Sorry, no idea here, I'll let you know if I can figure anything out.

Well, no solution yet, but some more info if anyone that knows more can help.

Something is causing all the civs to vanish except for the calabim and the illians and their starting warrior and scout are gone.

The cities are not just deleted since the roads are on the tiles the city should be on, looks like a city was razed then the ruins removed.

Have you looked at a wbs file before? It's huge!(just terrrain section) Who would want to go through all that terrain and delete everything that doesn't reference to FfH? I would use the worldbuilder to make a new map.

This is just a shot in the dark (I haven't looked at any of the files) but can't you just use Wordpad and 'Search & Replace'?

But yeah, it does still sound easier to just use the worldbuilder - but can the worldbuilder handle FfH2 resources?
Edit: Ignore that last part. For some reason, I got it into my head that there was an out-of-game world builder for Civ4.

for some reason luck that sounds like a really good idea. Searching for the random instances of the word oil being replaced with reagents (foil->freagents, etc.) would be a lot shorter than manually searching and replacing everything.
