Hi, sorry in advance for the noobishness of this request cluttering up the busy modding boards, but here goes.

What is easy for a moding complete noob to do? Eg. I figured out how to disable a technology. That's my limit. I can read a text document. Given that level of ability, are there other things I can do to tweak my game, like move a unit from one technology to another, change prerequisites, alter stats. I read the tuts about adding units, but It's really too hard for me. My brain isnt big enough, although I would love to be able to do this.

To repeat the question, for someone who can just read a text document, and cut and paste, what changes can I make?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Based on what I've seen in the very short (24 hours< or so) span of time I've messed with modding Civ4, anything in XML matches that description. All you really have to know is what the tags mean, and there are resources for that (Easiest for me has been cIV's wiki). Also, get something half-decent to open the files with instead of notepad (like this thing). The first thing I did was Civics, which you can also very easily add columns to if you are willing to peer into python. There's probably XML tutorials somewhere around here, too.

World Builder Save! :D You can create a dozen of scenarios without digging too deep in XML, not saying about Python or SDK.

I'd say XML, then WBS, then Python, then SDK. XML editing is simple and gets you fast results.
