Easter Eggs

"Lyons" is a not-so uncommon English spelling for the French town of Lyon as far as I know, as the French Marseille is sometimes spelt "Marseilles" in English, so that does not seem to be something specific to Civ. I am not sure about Rheims though.

Another similar example is the 1415 battle, where Henry V and his archers won against the French. In French, this battle is known as Azincourt, while it is usually spelt Agincourt in English. Go figure. ;)

I heard there was a "Mingapulco" somewhere as well. Probably one of the Meso American tribes.

Thats after Ming one of the mods at Apoly.

Yes, on Elvis's Birthday, the computer reads your settings and al your king unit's are Elvis. It's really funny :) and he talks wierd too...

Let's see...

There is the Viking city of "Thunderfall" (you all know who it's named after) we had an SOTD on that...
There's also a Mingapulco or some crap like that.
The words "Amanda" have been spotted in the artwork in Tree's (despite what I said on EEggs, i havn't seen that one)
the whole "Not Constantinople, Not Istanbul" egg
"Neo Tokyo"
Elvis Putnam
"Yumbo"
Check your vanilla sound files. In the regular sound folder, look for "eagle warrior" sound bits.
Um, something else. I forget what.

Check out your "C:\Civilization III\Art\Movies" folder and watch "security_briefing" video.
You need bink player to play it.

Yeah, that was great. I wonder if it originally was going to have a point. Incidentally, there are sound files for a Barbarian attack on a village that aren't used.

How does the game know its elvis's birthday???

Because the programmer puts in something like (in psudeo-code):

if ( (now->day == 8) and (now->month == 1)) { switchElvis(); };

:D

And, there's "Heidelburg", "Rheims" and "Lyons".
:mischief:
What with these names? Besides the mispellings, that is?

it would be more like this :)
if ((dayToday==8) && (monthToday==1))
{
Elvix();
}

I waited all most a year to try it. Then on the 8th I missed it. So on the 9th I changed the date on my computer to the 8th, started the game so I could see it.
