Hi,
Just a small offer, I have Virtual PC and the PC version of the editor and was just thinking that if any of you Mac users out there without access to VPC would like, I can probably edit a scenario for you, as long as it isn't anything major, like making a custom map.

I could edit the rules - modify the number of optimal cities (thus decreasing corruption), etc. As long as it isn't too major, I can probably do it.

I currently have a modified game (my first) that I really enjoy. I took the player1mod that someone else created, multiplied the optimal number of cities in the game by 8, put the starting treasury to 20 instead of 10, added +1 content citizen to start with and changed the Iriquois to the Sindarin (a race of elves from the game HarnMaster). The Sindarin. To counter the AI trading all techs between themselves almost automatically, I made the Sindarin :Religious, Expansionist, Commercial and Scientific. I gave them the starting techs of Pottery, Alphabet, Writing and Map Making. I lowered their aggression level, made their preferred government Democracy and their hated government Communism. I also changed the city names to the names of countries/cities/etc from Harn. I know it sounds like quite an advantage for the Sindarin, but so far it hasn't proven too great of an advantage.

I also created a random map and then made the map resource-rich. I added a bunch of new goodie huts, a few strategic resources (not a lot, just a few) and a fair amount of luxuries. All starting places have pretty much equal access to these luxuries/resources/goodies, so that isn't any huge advantage for the player. It *does* tend to encourage rapid expansion by all the AIs. There is one large continent, two smaller continents and a tiny island. The map is huge. However, if you don't want the map, you can always go to the customization screen and make your own random map.

I and a friend of mine have both been playing this mod for a little while and we both seem to enjoy it. It may be a bit weighted in the player's favor, but hey, I am having fun and that's all that matters, right? If anyone wants to see this mod, I'd be happy to stuffit and send it to them. I do plan to make MAJOR changes to this mod once the 1.21 patch comes out, but until then, I am having fun.

Let me know if you would like me to tinker with some rules or would like to see my mod. Thanks. You can write me at <ferretloverdc@earthlink.net>

Oh, BTW - by adding so many traits to the Sindarin, it makes it MUCH harder to get a Golden Age!

ferretloverdc - thanks for such a wonderful offer. If its possible for you to somehow change the number of civs allowed on all maps, I'd love to change mine. Say, six on tiny maps; 8 on small; 12 on standard; 16 on large & huge. You may have to alter a civ3modbic ---- I don't know if this is possible w/ VPS to MAC. Thanks again.

Your wish is my command. All done. I also increased the optimum number of cities, I hope that's ok. If not, let me know. I tested the Tiny map for about 8 turns and it seemed to work fine. I was apparently on an island or something with both the Aztecs and the Americans..... Now, I just need an e-mail to send it to......

I'd like to add my thanks to the others. This is a great offer. Please find my email in your inbox.

I'd love to see an 'Atlantean' civ with ocean-going galleys for use on a water world--a bit like the Pirates in SMAX.

Hi,
I sent you my Harn Mod. I hope you like it. I will look into making an Atlantean Mod. What exactly do you want? A lot of water I assume? A civ that starts with Galleys and stuff, right? I *did* experiment with making my own units and it crashed the game, so I am not sure if I can do exactly what you want. But I could easily work on a civ that starts with Map Making and thus has Galleys to start with. I could also make the map mostly water and perhaps in the "format" of Atlantis. Let me know what you would like me to do. Doing a map is a bit harder and more time consuming. But adding traits to a Civ, or adjusting some things is pretty easy. Hope this helps.

Played a very quick game of your Harn mod at Regent level and got done, mainly due to my excessive arrogance from the supposed position of strength.

In an early game I wanted the 'Atlanteans' to be able to use an ocean-going vessel and another civ, the' Phoenicians', to have a Trader/Explorer unit which could initiate diplomacy and trade. For the late game I really wanted to use a Special Operations/SAS unit which could operate behind enemy lines. And, I guess many of us would like to have lethal bombardment available to sink ships or to destroy workers from coastal squares.

P.S. I think we may have sent too much email because stuff is getting sent back at the moment: quota overload.

Hi Sid,
So, you like the Harn Mod so far? Due to all the goodies and food, all civs tend to expand quickly, so you have to be careful.

As to your "Atlanteans" and "Phoenecians", I can see what I can do. I have only tried creating new units once, and it cause the game to crash. I could always alter a current Civ - give them the proper techs for map making and writing, etc. I will play around with altering the units some more, but a lot of my stuff is going to be experimentation as I do not have the help file or any documentation that covers how to use the editor.

Hope Harn is fun for you. Have a good one.

My pleasure. I will send you the mod as soon as I get my mail.

As to being a "Junior Brad", I wish! I have zero programming skills. I would love to learn, and maybe I will someday. I am just a fellow Mac gamer who is happy to help where I can.
