Editing diplomacy

Does anyone know if the rules for editing the diplomacy text are similar to those for altering the script text, ie text not Word, sentences up to 150-200 characters, no blank lines to be removed, no extra blank lines. A lot of the script is on the level of the school playground, not the conversation of rulers, and I am afraid I just cannot play a game until I have done some editing. I have amended some lines with no adverse effects but there is too much to alter all at once and for the time being I just want to cut most. I notice there are variable random numbers at the head of each paragraph.
I have asked Infogrames by email but in the meantime any comments would be appreciated.

No reply from Infrogames. So. Just wondered whether anyone who has played a lot can work out what the mood x, random x, etc means. It doesn't seem obvious as the same values apptly give different results.
Failing that I shall start snipping and hope for the best.
