Any time I make a map in the editor and change the difficulty (and even if I don't) the map difficulty when I go to play it is always Regent. Am I just not doing it right? Please help.
Yes. My brother and I play on Chieftan Level (we just got the game a month or so ago and since I work and am taking summer classes I don't have the time I would like to actually develop a better playing strategy). Every time I make a map though I put me, my brother, and the computer opponents on either Chieftan or "Any" but it is still always on Regent when we play.
The editor is probably not the problem. But when you load a scenario in the Multiplayer Set Up screen of the game itself, you can choose the difficulty level there as well (bottom left). You FIRST have to choose the difficulty level and then you can load the scenario.
If this confuses you I can give you more detailed information. But I assume that this helps.
MSTK: Why is this the wrong forum? He is only trying to load a multiplayer game.
I just took a map scenario I had made previously. I checked custom rules and then went to Rules - Edit Rules - General Settings, in the lower right corner AI Intelligence - Difficulty. This I set to chiefton. Then saved the scenario.
Next, I set up a hot seat game using a this custom map scenario by selecting scenario instead of standard. I put in two players. The rest computer and launched the game. After playing a few turns, I saved the game, quit, and restarted. when I loaded the game the second time it came up at chiefton difficulty; just as it should.
The default for AI Intelligence - Difficulty is Regent. Could this be your problem?
