I've tried on several occasions that another colonial power has set up a town just next to my starter town making me lose land. Last game i tried going to europe, buying 50 extra guns (having 100 total) for 300g and offering the natives the 100 guns to go to war on the other colonial power. With 100 guns, and limited defenses in a town with pop 2, the other town fall quickly. Great way to clear out opponents.
Works great on other indian tribes to, after one tribe has softened up another tribes defenses with guns and horses, i swoop in for the last village or two for the pillaging.
